In 2025, American actor John Hoogenakker will be seen opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn in Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another". He will also be seen in Amazon's "G20", opposite Viola Davis, Anthony Anderson, Ramón Rodríguez and Anthony Starr, and later in 2025 he will be joining the cast of the Apple TV+ series "The Morning Show", opposite Reese Witherspoon. Hoogenakker shines as Randy Ramseyer in Hulu's critically acclaimed limited series "Dopesick", opposite Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Kaitlyn Dever, and Rosario Dawson, and is an audience favorite as black-ops CIA operator Matice, in Amazon's hit series "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan", opposite John Krasinski and Wendell Pierce. Additional credits include: the critically acclaimed "Knox Goes Away" with Michael Keaton (who also directed the project), Showtime's "Waco: The Aftermath", Starz's "The Girlfriend Experience" opposite Riley Keough, "Public Enemies" opposite Marion Cotillard and Christian Bale, and "A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas".

Born John Weston Hoogenakker on April 23, 1977, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, he became an actor at an early age, performing in church musicals, commercials and Charlotte's Children's Theatre. Later, at South Mecklenburg High School, he competed in Debate and was a two-time state and district champion in Humorous Interpretation.

Hoogenakker went on to attend The Theatre School at DePaul University, in Chicago, Illinois, and appeared in many of that city's illustrious houses, including The Goodman, Writers' Theatre, Court Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and the Steppenwolf Garage. His varied stage work ranges from Chris Smith in Tracy Letts' "Killer Joe" to the role of Hamlet at The Illinois Shakespeare Festival, as well as shows with the iconic hip-hop theatrical group The Q Brothers. At the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, he received excellent reviews as the tragically alcohol-addled Willie Oban in the acclaimed remounting of "The Iceman Cometh," alongside Nathan Lane and Brian Dennehy.

In 2006, Hoogenakker earned his first feature film credit on "Flags of Our Fathers," working opposite fellow North Carolinian George Grizzard under the esteemed direction of Clint Eastwood. He has also had a far reaching career in commercial voice over, voicing campaigns for hundreds of clients, including McDonald's, BMO Harris, Nintendo, Comcast and OnStar. His on-camera work on television commercials includes spots that have run during Super Bowls and the Olympics, as well as campaigns for Bud Light, as the Dilly Dilly King, for Chevy with Walter the cat, and as a spokesman for Spectrum.
