Laila Garin is a French-Brazilian actress and singer, born in Salvador- Bahia, and based in Rio de Janeiro. Laila Garin became known for having participated in the Netflix series "3%" (2018-2020), "Sob Pressão" (2017) ("Under Pressure") and "Rock Story" (2016-2017). In 2021, Laila Garin will be cast in the show "Dom", which is produced by Amazon Prime Video and Conspiração. The actress is also scheduled to appear in the film "Deserto Particular" ("Private Desert" ) by Aly Muritiba and in the musical film "Meu álbum de Amores" ("My Love Album") by Rafael Gomes, with songs by Odair Jose and Arnaldo Antunes. In Brazil she became known to the public and critics through the musical about the singer Elis Regina. For this and for her performance in another musical, adapted from the classic by Chico Buarque, "Gota D'agua a Seco" ("Drop of Dry Water"), the actress won the most important acting awards and performed at the most important theaters in the country. At TV Globo she has been part of "Sob Pressão", by Jorge Furtado, played the singer Clara Nunes in the series "Chacrinha, o velho Guerreiro" ("Chacrinha, The Old Warrior" ), and played Edith Piaf in the series "Hebe". She also shows up in the soap operas "Malhaçao" ("Workout"), "Rock Story" and "Babilonia", A Grande Família ("The Large Family"), Louco Por Elas ("Crazy About Them" , and Força Tarefa ("Task Force" ). As a singer, she has been part in the programs "Criança Esperança" ("Children's Hope", a yearly charity telethon) and "Som Brasil" ("Brazil Sound" ) of TvGlobo and also sang on the soundtrack of the series Amorteamo ("Amour, I love You"). In the movies, she has been part of "Divaldo, o mensageiro da paz" ("Divaldo, the Messenger of Peace") by Clovis Mello, "Macabro" ("Macabre"), directed by Marcos Prado, and"Chacrinha, o velho Guerreiro" by Andrucha Waddington. For her performance in the short film "Um Outro Ensaio(2010) ( "Another Essay" in English) by Natara Ney, she won awards for best actress in the film festivals of Blumenau and Triumfo. As a singer, she performed in the documentary about Chico Buarque, "Chico - Um Artista Brasileiro" ("Chico - A Brazilian artist"), and in the documentary about Ferreira Gullar, "A Vida Existe Porque a Vida Não Basta" ("Life Exists Because Life Is Not Enough") . Her album "Laila Garin e a Roda" produced by Nelson Motta is on digital platforms. She also stars in the musical "A Hora da Estrela ou o Canto de Macabea" (2020/2021) ("The Hour of the Star or Macabea's Song"), with text by Clarice Lispector adapted and original music by Chico Cesar.
