Biography

    • Acclaimed and award-winning creator and screenwriter Ron Leshem is the Boston-based mastermind behind the original Euphoria, which premiered in Israel in 2012. After seven years of championing the project in the US, the celebrated series was adapted into the HBO Emmy®-winning sensation, with Leshem serving as executive producer. Euphoria's third and final season is set to premiere in 2026.

The American-Israeli writer-producer is renowned for developing thought-provoking stories that explore themes of adolescence, adversity, and unrelenting courage. Leshem created Max's drama Valley of Tears and executive produced NBC's psychological thriller Allegiance, adapted from his critically acclaimed series The Gordin Cell. His 2019 thriller film Incitement, which he co-wrote, scored nine nominations and two wins at the Ophir Awards (also known as the Israel Film Academy Awards), including the award for Best Picture. Previously, Leshem was the Chief of Content and Programming at Keshet TV, where he oversaw the production of some of Israel's hit series, including Prisoners Of War (adapted by Showtime as Homeland), The A-Word, Arab Labor, and Traffic Light.

His series Bad Boy, launching globally, will premiere May 2, 2025 on Netflix. Following its run on Israel's HOT Network in November of 2024, Bad Boy won seven Israeli Television Academy Awards, including Best Drama Series and a win for Leshem for screenplay. In summer 2025, Leshem's highly anticipated Trust No One also premieres on Netflix and his other hit series, No Man's Land, will air its second season on Hulu.

In addition to his TV and film work, Leshem is a best-selling author and received Israel's highly coveted Sapir Prize for his debut novel Beaufort. The book was at the top of Israel's best-sellers list for two years and has been published in over 20 languages. The film adaptation, co-authored by Leshem, received significant international praise and was nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film. His follow-up novels The Underground Bazaar and When We Were Beautiful (published in the U.S. as When the Ocean Remembers and Under the Secret Moon, respectively) were both international bestsellers. Leshem is the only person in Israel to have won all three of the country's major awards, for film, television, and literature.
