John Ruby was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Gay and Jake Ruby. He grew up in Pewaukee and found a love for theater and singing at a young age. His first paid performances were children's birthday parties, where he juggled and did magic. John then took a break from performing to focus on academics and sports. After high school, John continued his study at the prestigious Northwestern University and used his junior year to study in Munich, Germany. There, John fell in love with words and languages. After graduating from NU, John packed his car and drove west to Hollywood. His first professional acting gig was on the soap opera 'Passions.' Subsequently, he has worked on the TV shows For All Mankind, Penny Dreadful, SWAT, Speechless, 2 Broke Girls, and CSI. His feature film credits include Solver, Touch, and The Case of Jonas Booker.

On stage, John has performed in Fool for Love, Heaven Can Wait, The Sting, and The Maiden's Prayer. He's also performed improv at IO West on the Harold team "Liquor, Guns and Ammo."

John has taught on-camera acting classes for many years. Combining his experience in acting and casting to help others bring out their authentic selves in front of the camera and book work.

In his free time, John loves spending time with his wife and son, traveling (favorite destinations: Iceland, Finland and Costa Rica), playing basketball, advocating for protected bike lanes & electric cars and reading about everything he can.
