Laura Avila Tacsan

Laura is a Costa Rican producer and executive based in Los Angeles with decades of film and TV experience. She once was a creative executive at mun2/Telemundo, NBCU and a producer, line producer, production manager and location manager on shows for Hulu, Netflix and Apple as well as independent projects. In addition to working in the U.S., she's also worked in Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Costa Rica. Her film "Entonces Nosotros" (aka "About Us") was the Costa Rican contender for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards and became one of the highest-grossing Costa Rican films at the box office. "Rosado Furia" received 7 awards at CRFIC and Icaro, Central America, and "Aquí y Ahora" received the WIP award at the Viña del Mar Int'l Film Festival, Women in Film Finishing Fund, and was part of the 2018 IFP (now The Gotham Film & Media Institute) Narrative Lab selection. Laura is a Fulbright Scholar with an MFA in Film and TV Producing from Chapman University and a BA in Communications from UCR.
