Aubrey Plaza Plans Visit With Heidi Fleiss Before Biopic Shoot
Aubrey Plaza
Aubrey Plaza says she hopes to meet Heidi Fleiss before filming The Heidi Fleiss Story, the biopic in which she will star and produce, describing the onetime “Hollywood madam” as “the ultimate badass icon” who “deserves the royal treatment.” Plaza added that she has never portrayed a real person on screen and is preparing for the role by studying Fleiss’s public persona and history.

The feature is being directed by Leah Rachel and centers on the turbulent period before Fleiss’s mid-1990s legal troubles, with a script Rachel developed alongside Rachel Sennott and Travis Jackson. Plaza is producing through her Evil Hag banner, with filming planned in Los Angeles.

Fleiss achieved notoriety in Los Angeles for an exclusive escort operation that drew intense media attention and speculation about a sealed client list. She was ultimately convicted on federal tax charges and served roughly 20 months in prison, facts that...

Aubrey Plaza Hopes To Visit Heidi Fleiss Ahead Of Biopic: “She Deserves The Royal Treatment”
Image
For her first non-fiction onscreen role, Aubrey Plaza is looking forward to delivering a portrayal befitting Heidi Fleiss.

After Deadline reported that she will produce and star as Fleiss in an upcoming biopic about the ‘Hollywood Madam’, the Golden Globe nominee expressed her excitement to play the “ultimate badass icon” to whom she “spiritually” relates.

“I’ve been on this track for a while. I got it in my head that I wanted to play her a couple of years ago and I’ve never played a real-life person before,” she told IndieWire. “It’s a different kind of scale, challenge, that I’m really excited about, and I just think she’s an incredible person, incredible character.”

Plaza continued, “The story is insane. She’s done something that probably nobody else has ever done, and she’s still going. I think she’s the ultimate badass icon and she deserves the royal treatment.

The Nightbeast Sees MCU Star Have an Affair With a Sexy Boogeyman
Image
Tatiana Maslany takes on a new challenge in The Nightbeast by seducing the Boogeyman in a darkly comedic tale. Despite budget issues, Maslany's return as She-Hulk in the MCU series is uncertain, but fans remain hopeful. Look out for Maslany in the 2025 film adaptation of Stephen King's The Monkey directed by Osgood Perkins.

From playing multiple characters in Orphan Black, to hulking out as attorney Jennifer Walters in the MCU, Tatiana Maslany has seemingly done it all over the course of her 27-year career, but her new role sees her taking on a challenge no one expected: seducing the Boogeyman. Maslany played the lead in Orphan Black from 2013 to 2017 before landing a role in the HBO series Perry Mason in 2020. From there, she was tapped to star as Jennifer Walters in the MCU series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law which unfortunately only lasted for one season on Disney+ in 2022.

Meghan Markle Draws Online Support After Emotional ITV Interview
Meghan Markle
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has received an outpouring of support after her near-breakdown on camera describing life in the Royal family.

The hashtag #WeLoveYouMeghan’ was a top trending topic on Twitter after a clip from the interview leaked. Netflix Cancels Chambers
Kirsten Howard Jun 19, 2019

There will be no Chambers season 2 at the streaming service.

It's another case of "one and done" at Netflix for supernatural drama series Chambers. The show, which debuted on the streaming giant on April 26th, now joins the likes of Everything Sucks! by getting just a single season to play out its story on Netflix (via Variety). It's likely that poor viewing figures and the show's critical meh-ing combined to form a decent enough flow of reasons not to greenlight a Chambers season 2.

Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn fronted Chambers, in which teen Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) finds herself at the center of a disturbing mystery when she gets a heart transplant and experiences upsetting visions of her donor's past.

“Chambers will not return for a second season,” a spokesman for Netflix confirmed in a statement. “We’re grateful to creator and showrunner Leah Rachel for bringing...

Despite Its Dry Arizona Landscape, Chambers Was Filmed More Than 300 Miles Away
If you've watched Netflix's new psychological horror show Chambers, you're acutely aware it's set in the Southwest, particularly Arizona. The show uses long shots of the sprawling desert landscape and miles upon miles of hilly terrain to enhance the eerie mood of the movie. In fact, the "haboob" dust storm that occurs in the first episode kicks off the entire mystery by trapping Sasha with the LeFevres for the night. Filming, however, took place in parts of Albuquerque, Nm, for six months. What's interesting about the location is that it's where Netflix's Messiah and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs were also filmed.

In an interview with Refinery29, Jonny Rios (the actor playing Ravi who attends Crystal Valley High and was the center of major drama between Becky and her best friend Marnie) commented on how important setting is to Chambers: "We were out in the middle of the desert,...

‘Chambers': Tony Goldwyn on Ben’s ‘Tragic Mistake’ and What His Fate Means for a Season 2
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for “Chambers” through the Season 1 finale)

Ben Lefevre is no more and it’s pretty much all his fault. On the second-to-last episode of the first season of Netflix’s new horror series “Chambers,” Tony Goldwyn’s character is killed by his wife Nancy (Uma Thurman) when she discovers he led their teenage daughter Becky (Lilliya Scarlett Reid) to commit suicide by helping the cult The Annex resurrect the spirit of Adam’s first wife, Lilith, inside the girl.

TheWrap spoke with Goldwyn about the “tragic mistake” Ben made and how it set the entire series in motion, as Becky’s suicide led to Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) receiving both her heart and Lilith’s spirit, which is something he knew about the character from the very beginning. And that’s because “Chambers” creator Leah Rachel needed him to know what he was getting himself into.

Here’s What You Probably Missed on Netflix’s ‘Chambers,’ According to the Horror Series’ Creator
(Warning: This post contains spoilers through the Season 1 finale of “Chambers”)

Netflix’s new horror series “Chambers” may have scared the [redacted] out of you upon your first viewing, but we at TheWrap — who definitely had the [redacted] scared out of us, too — can tell you it’s a show that is going to require multiple viewings to catch everything embedded in the twisted heart of the thriller.

That’s because we talked to “Chambers” creator Leah Rachel, who told us what she packed into the streaming service’s 10-episode drama that definitely went over our heads.

The plot centers around Nancy (Uma Thurman) and Ben Lefevre (Tony Goldwyn), a grieving couple whose daughter’s heart is donated to save another girl’s life. When the Lefevres offer the survivor, Sasha Yazzie (Sivan Alyra Rose), a memorial scholarship in their daughter Becky’s (Lilliya Scarlett Reid) name, their intentions seem good — but...

‘Chambers’ Creator Breaks Down Season 1’s Ending and How It Leaves Horror Series Open for More
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for “Chambers” through the Season 1 finale)

If you managed to make it through the first season of Netflix’s new horror series “Chambers” and come out the other side with all your mental facilities intact, then we are here to help you sort out anything you didn’t understand with a little help from the show’s creator herself, Leah Rachel.

Alright, let’s start with that Lilith twist at the very end, when it revealed Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) has been inhabited by the spirit of the first wife of Adam, after shoving out Becky’s (played by Lilliya Scarlett Reid) soul. Where the heck did that come from?

“Well, I think the theories in general with Sasha and her trying to figure out Becky and then the twist of Lilith is you’ve got this history of misunderstood women,” Rachel told TheWrap. “I always was intrigued,...

‘Chambers’ Review: Uma Thurman Deserves Better Than This Bloated Netflix Dud
“Chambers” marks the most slow-moving, bloated, and boring Netflix mystery since “Gypsy” — remember “Gypsy”? The psychological thriller in which Naomi Watts’ wayward therapist gets a little too involved with her patients? Needless to say, it’s better if you don’t, but at least anyone who does remember now knows what’s coming if they’re tempted to try another would-be thriller starring an Oscar-nominated actress making her first big move to serialized TV.

At least Uma Thurman isn’t the star of “Chambers.” That duty falls to the able newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose, a naturalistic performer who believably and endearingly dials things down in service of creator Leah Rachel’s elongated pacing. The only problem is this mystical series needs to get turnt, as the kids say. (I think? Who knows?) So grounded it’s stagnant, “Chambers” wastes a few talented performers as well as a great opportunity to...

‘Chambers’ Star Tony Goldwyn on Directing That ‘Otherworldly’ Episode With ‘Uma and Sivan in a Box’
(Warning: This post contains mild spoilers through Episode 109 of “Chambers.”)

Netflix’s new horror series “Chambers” starts as a psychological thriller based on real-life fears and takes a sharp turn that leads its characters into the dark world of the supernatural. It also leads viewers down a path of confusion as they try to separate what’s fact and what’s fiction.

Tony Goldwyn, who stars on the Leah Rachel-created drama as Ben Lefevre, is particularly proud of how that dichotomy comes to a head in the episode he sat behind the camera for.

“The one I directed, which is the second-to-last one, No. 9 — that’s when things get really weird,” Goldwyn told TheWrap. “And there’s basically, most of that episode is Uma [Thurman] and Sivan [Alyra Rose] in a box, in one space. And so Leah had the idea of using the reflections, these images from Becky’s childhood, slide...

How ‘Chambers’ Creator Landed Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn for ‘Really F-ed Up’ New Netflix Series
Leah Rachel
Leah Rachel will be the first to tell you her new Netflix series “Chambers” is “really weird.” She’ll probably also be the first to tell you it’s “really f–ked up.” And those self-aware descriptors are why she’s also the best person to explain how she landed two A-list actors to lead the cast of the streaming service’s upcoming twisted thriller: Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn.

“For somebody of Uma’s caliber, when we were casting Nancy, our casting director gave me the list of actresses that she had in mind for her and she had Uma Thurman’s name on it, and I think I laughed when I read it,” Rachel told TheWrap. “I was like, ‘Ok, yeah sure, we’ll see.’ And then she really responded to the script!”

Thurman stars on “Chambers” as Nancy Lefevre, a grieving mother whose daughter’s heart is...

Jonny Rios Shares His Excitement Over His Netflix Series Chambers
Chambers is coming to Netflix on Friday, April 26, 2019. It's part coming of age story, part family drama, and part horror, so as usual, everyone in your family (who is of age) will find something to like about it.

Chambers focuses on a young woman named Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) who has her life upended when she suffers a near-fatal heart attack while still in high school.

Jonny Rios plays Ravi, a young man to whom Sasha finds herself mysteriously drawn to in ways she cannot fully understand. Rios was excellent in the role, his first, and shared some of his time with us to chat about the experience.

He's quite impressive and has a lovely attitude, so I hope you enjoy reading through parts of our conversation.

What can you tell me about your reaction when you first read the Chambers script?

Yeah, when I first got the script for Chambers,...

TV Review: ‘Chambers’
“Chambers,” Netflix’s new horror series, doesn’t have much going for it — it’s a grody, nasty piece of work, a story that would at least be endurable if it were the under-ninety-minute movie it seems to want to be. But it does boast the casting of both Tony Goldwyn (in his first post-”Scandal” role) and Uma Thurman, two stars that might not have signed on to a version of this story that didn’t have the patina of prestige that comes with an overlong season on streaming. Too bad for them: They’re stranded in a story that goes nowhere fast, reliant on cheap scares with nothing behind them.

The story is frustrating in part because it seems to be saying something at its outset. Sasha (Sivan Alyra Rose) is a pleasantly typical American girl — dutiful but free-spirited in predictable proportion — before she suffers cardiac arrest and receives a transplanted heart,...

Trailer For Netflix's Supernatural Horror Series Chambers with Uma Thurman
Netflix has released the first trailer for a new supernatural horror series called Chambers, which stars Uma Thurman. I like the concept of this! It looks like a very interesting and seriously jacked-up series.

Chambers centers on “a young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister.”

Thurman takes on the role of Nancy, “the mother of the heart donor who forges a hesitant relationship with the young recipient only to find her daughter may not be as dead as she thought.”

The series was created and written by Leah Rachel who will showrun alongside Akela Cooper. The 10-episode series is set to premiere on April 26th and I’m completely on board!

‘Chambers’ Trailer: A Heart Transplant Goes Horribly Wrong in Netflix Horror Series
Yes, the new Netflix series “Chambers” centers on Sasha, a young woman (Sivan Alyra Rose) who begins to see visions of another existence after she receives a life-changing heart transplant. Uma Thurman co-stars as the mother of the dead teenager whose heart was donated and whose memories seem to be seeping into the present.

But let’s talk about one particularly horrifying shot in this trailer that Netflix put out on Wednesday. The image of Tony Goldwyn, playing a grieving father, heavy breathing in some sort of minimalist interior decor nightmare is an indication that this show is not messing around. (The multiple images of young teenage girls bleeding from their mouths might be another.)

To paraphrase the great American poet Joey Tribbiani, these people appear to be having some issues with their full-sized aortic pumps. Sure, everyone processes loss in different ways, but this hints that not everyone is...
