Anastasia Phillips was born September 8 in Toronto, Canada. She is the daughter of Mark, a psychiatrist and Janina, a fertility care specialist. She is of Venetian and Polish ancestry.

Phillips is the middle of three girls, plays violin, and exhibited an interest in acting from a very early age. She spent the large part of her time in high school in school productions, memorably starring as Cyrano DeBergerac, with prosthetic nose and all. Her first professional role was playing Anne Frank in the Diary of Anne Frank for Vancouver Art's Club theatre, for which she was nominated as Best Actress. She graduated with a BFA from the University of British Columbia, where she also majored in Philosophy.

After appearing in a number of Canadian theatrical productions, she starred in a Canadian drama series called M.V.P. (2008) playing the lovable if not incorrigible Tabbi Schnarr from the trailer park. Other credits followed, including the MTV version of the controversial show Skins (2011) where she played a misguided teacher who has an affair with her student, and the role of Vera in the beloved, award-winning series Bomb Girls (2012). She is known for her broad range of characters, both dramatic and comedic, from a psychotic killer to a girl with no arms.

Anastasia resides in Santa Monica, California.
