True Colours sales include Karlovy Vary title ‘The Land Of The Sons’ (exclusive)

A Contracorriente has acquired all Spanish-language rights to Claudio Cupellini’s Karlovy Vary competition title The Land Of The Sons from True Colours.

The film is a postapocalyptic Italian drama starring Valeria Golino and produced by Indigo with Rai Cinema. It will premiere at the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily and is being distributed in Italy by 01 Distribution.

The Land Of The Sons is an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name by comic artist Gipi, and tells the story of an illiterate boy searching for someone to read his late father’s journal to him.

Disney to give Marvel superhero film the widest release since UK cinemas reopened in May.

After a delay of more than a year, Disney has finally released Marvel superhero adventure Black Widow in the UK and Ireland, and will deliver the territory’s widest theatrical release since cinemas began reopening in May.

Altitude boards David Stoddart’s ‘Lone Star Bull’ as shoot wraps in US (exclusive)

Action-adventure feature stars Luke MacFarlane and D.J. “Shangela” Pierce.

Altitude Film Sales has boarded upcoming action-adventure film Lone Star Bull, which marks the feature debut of UK director David Stoddart and stars Luke MacFarlane and D.J. “Shangela” Pierce.

The London-based sales agent will handle worldwide rights to the film and is expected to launch sales later this year at the American Film Market (AFM).

A two-month shoot wraps in Savannah, Georgia today (July 9) on the feature, which is produced by Maggie Monteith through her US banner Southern Stories alongside Christopher Simon for the UK’s New Sparta Films and Seth Michaels.

Exclusive: Anna Karenina star in talks to play lead in Rotterdam CineMart project.

Alicia Vikander, the Swedish star of Anna Karenina and A Royal Affair, is in talks to play the female lead in Iffr CineMart project Alina, to be directed by Björne Larson and expected to shoot later this year.

The film is produced by Helena Danielsson of Hepp Film International Ab

David Dencik, the Swedish-Danish actor who co-starred in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, is also in the frame to appear in the film, which will be executive produced by Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money, Child 44).

Alina is a thriller in the mould of The Godfather. It is based on the play The Fourth Month by Björn Boström. Mogens Rukov (Festen) is the script consultant on the film which is co-scripted by Larson.
