Siobhan Fahey, Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward, and Bananarama

Trivia

Bananarama

Edit
  • The girl band's love of partying during the 1980s apparently provided some inspiration for the British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous (1992) after its star/writer Jennifer Saunders had accompanied them on some of their vodka-fueled binges.
  • In 1981, Banarama was formed as an all-girl trio consisting of Siobhan Fahey, Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward.
  • Siobhan Fahey left the group in 1988 to create the duo Shakespear's Sister with Marcella Detroit. Fahey was replaced in the band by Jacquie O'Sullivan.
  • By 1991, Jacquie O'Sullivan had left the group. Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward continued as a duo.
  • Despite being one of the most successful pop groups of the 1980s and the most successful all female group, they never had a UK number one single or album.
  • In April 2017, they announced they were reuniting, which attracted considerable mainstream media attention, including interviews for the BBC on Breakfast (2000) and The One Show (2006).
  • British girl band famous in the 80s for hits like "Venus", "I Heard a Rumour", "Cruel Summer", "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye", "Love in the First Degree", "I Want Your Back" and "Robert De Niro's Waiting".
  • Their song "Venus" was a cover version of a 1969 song by the Dutch band Shocking Blue.
