Biography

    • Gia Mora is a writer, performer, and producer telling stories that help build a compassionate, equitable, and sustainable future for all -- often set to a killer dance beat. Her most recent music video, "Take Some Action (to Get Some Action) (2024)," her short film "Me and Ma'ii" (quarterfinalist, 2023 Golden Scripts Competition), and her newsletter Animal Matters all focus on the ways everyone can contribute to climate action.

"Anchors Away (2019)," the comedy pilot she co-wrote, produced, and starred in with Tara Jean O'Brien, screened at the Hollywood Reel Independent and Lift-Off Film Festivals. With SCIRENS -- the screen sirens for science -- she co-created "Scirens Show (2020)" and co-wrote the comedy pilot "MOMs" (semi-finalist, NY Television Festival Scripts Contest). She will also executive produce the science documentary series "I Am A Scientist" with Emmy award-winning producer/director Michael Simon.

In 2024, Gia won Best Actress in a Feature Film at the Gladiator Film Festival for "The Last Act (2022)," directed by Cannes-award winner Shahab Hosseini. Semi-retired from acting, her essays and reporting have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Huffington Post, Business Insider, and more. She lives a low-impact life along the Los Angeles River with her partner and two adopted kitties.
