Shaitaan
Starring: R. Madhavan, Ajay Devgn, Jyotika
Directed by Vikas Bahl
Vikas Bahl’s Shaitaan is not your typical dreary eerie shiver giver with creaking doors and shrieking banshees. This is far scarier. The evil is one of us. A charming bloke named Vanraj who can be just anyone: the friendly neighbourhood fix-it guy, the ever-smiling insurance agent or the benign banker, anyone you don’t mind accessing your home.
The script allows Madhavan to penetrate a normal upwardly mobile middleclass family (far more posh than in the original Gujarati film Vansh) with tha tever-grin countenance, and then create a hair-raising havoc.
Never before has Madhavan’s natural effortless charms been put to use with such frightening alacrity. One minute he is the coolest Uncle on the block , playing the friendly confidante to a teenaged girl. The next minute he is growling menacing beast of a man ordering the young girl to slap her father,...

Ott Web Series Sunflower Review
Shuttling between a murder mystery and a quirky social commentary, Vikas Bahl’s Sunflower is a cool vivid and wittingly wicked series that further clarifies the difference between fact and reality.
Filled with metaphor at paces, the title Sunflower is the name of a reputed society in the Mumbai metropolis.
The society comprises of interesting characters that include a righteous Hindi chemistry teacher Mr. Ahuja (Mukul Chaddha), a rich arrogant neighbour Mr. Kapoor (Ashwin Kaushal), a flagbearer of moral...

Compiling the best films list is never an easy task. Especially considering Indian films, India being the country that produces the most number of films in the world, spanning over a number of industries, based on languages from different parts of the country. There’s also the fact that some of the regional language films are not easily accessible with subtitles and like always, there would be a lot of films that might be missing from this list.
This year has been particularly strong in Tamil and Hindi (or Bollywood if you prefer) industries. But even a few of the acclaimed films from both of those industries missed spot on this list.
So here are the best Indian films of 2018 in reverse order. Some of them have premiered in festivals in the previous years but since they had the theatrical release in India only in 2018 they are also included. (By...

Umesh Kulkarni’s much-awaited film Highway has now been shifted to 28th August 2015.
Explaining why, the acclaimed filmmaker shares, “One of the reason we postponed the film is because there were not enough screens available to release the film. Anyways there is always a problem in getting prime slots for Marathi films and with Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan still running on the main shows, we decided to wait it out.” Taking the change of release dates in his stride, the filmmaker isn’t complaining as he adds, “The shift also gave us some time to work on the title animation properly.”
Produced by Vinay Vaman Ganu and co-produced by Arbhaat films, Highway – Ek Selfie Aarpar is a journey of self-discovery and doesn’t have one or two, but 30 lead actors, including Huma Qureshi, Tisca Chopra, Girish Kulkarni, Renuka Shahane, Mukta Barve, Sunil Barve, Kishore Kadam, Nagraj Manjule to name a few.
