Netflix UK has assembled twelve top-tier British celebrities, who have subjected themselves as prey for a Bear hunt.

While it may not be a grizzly bear sniffing around for them, it may be worse. Edward Michael “Bear” Grylls, a British adventurer, TV personality and former British Special Forces soldier, will be on the hunt for the celebrity talent attached to the reality competition series.

Holly Willoughby hosts the Netflix show set in the Costa Rican jungle, where 12 celebrities, including Spice Girls alum Mel B and tennis legend Boris Becker, become prey for the legendary survival expert.

Each of the stars must prove how strong their sense of survival truly is as they navigate a brutal game of cat and mouse and are hunted down by Bear himself. Failure to work together and complete a challenge means an hour in the Bear Pit being hunted by Grylls. If caught, the celebrity will be eliminated.

The Kills will take their upcoming album God Games on the road next year with a newly announced 2024 North American tour. Along with the news, the band has shared a new song from the record, “Wasterpiece.”

Beginning February 2nd at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California, The Kills’ 2024 tour starts on the West Coast with shows in Portland, Vancouver, and Seattle before hitting cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Philly, Nashville, Houston, and Los Angeles. The tour wraps up March 16th at the Fox Theater in Oakland.

The Kills — the indie rock duo featuring singer Alison Mosshart and guitarist Jamie Hince — have announced the impending arrival of their first new album in seven years, God Games.

Ahead of the LP’s October 27 release, the band has shared the latest single, “103,” a love song set amid the ever-increasing, life-threatening heat waves plaguing the planet.

The visual for “103” was directed by Steven Sebring and makes use of a custom-built 3D film studio as the camera revolves around Mosshart and Hince, who — keeping with the song’s theme — don tanning goggles and solar eclipse glasses.

The Kills have readied God Games, their first album in seven years. The project is out in full on October 27th via Domino, while the new single “103” is available to stream now.

For God Games, The Kills tried a mix of strategies old and new. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince composed its 12 tracks primarily on piano, a first for the duo, but recorded the LP with producer Paul Epworth, who the band have known for 20 years. They recorded the album in an old church, which presumably added to their signature sultry, blues-inspired sound.

New track “103” begins with crackling electronic percussion and guitar that rolls in waves as Mosshart sings about the end of the world. The deceptively calming song comes with a 360-degree music video directed by Steven Sebring that follows The Kills as they try not to melt under the sun’s rays. Check it out below.

Darkly cinematic, “New York” feels like a song that would open an action movie thanks to its dramatic blend of horns and stop-start percussion. “You tase just like New York/ Before a storm takes hold,” Alison Mosshart sings, over Jamie Hince’s classic garage guitar. The duo sit ringside at a boxing match in the track’s music video, directed by Andrew Theodore Balasia.

Balasia also directs the video for “LA Hex,” where the artists harmonize over melancholy trumpets and a rolling electronic beat. “I still got my ways, you know,” Hince and Mosshart sing. As their first release since in several years, the line feels all the more pointed.

The legendary Iggy Pop, who turns 76 today (April 21st), kicked off his spring West Coast US tour at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday night (April 20th).

Even before it was out of post production, Habit (not to be confused with the 2017 cannibal film of the same name), was stirring up controversy. According to Variety, it was the subject of a petition due to its casting. Specifically the casting of Paris, daughter of Michael, Jackson as a lesbian Jesus. Whether it was the product of legitimate outrage or a bit of marketing it certainly got Habit noticed. And since I’m reviewing it, it obviously didn’t stop its release. Although maybe it would have been better if it did rather than being responsible for it getting a distributor.

Heroin chic crime and punishment caper feels more like an oblique marketing exercise than the classic queer cinema it nods to

Writer-director Janell Shirtcliff’s debut feature plays like a throwback to trashy queer-minded cult films of old, like the early work of John Waters (Pink Flamingos or Female Trouble) or Gregg Araki (The Doom Generation). There’s maybe even just a soupçon of Kenneth Anger in the use of what look very much like excerpts from Anger’s cutup gay bikers-meet-Jesus film Scorpio Rising. Except this shonky tale of crime and punishment in Los Angeles lacks the incisive wit or heretical instincts of those antecedents. It’s more like a Gen-z fashion magazine homage to Gen-x heroin chic, with fractionally more of a plot.

Main protagonist Mads (Bella Thorne) loves Jesus in her own special way, even though she is a heroin user and possibly a sex and love addict.

Little Bastards consists of material from 2002 through 2009. The duo — Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince — previewed the album with the 2009 demo “Raise Me.” The accompanying creepy video features Mosshart singing across raw guitar riffs, her hair shrouding her face.

Paris Jackson, the 22-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson, is set to star as Jesus Christ in a new film called “Habit” opposite Bella Thorne, the producers of the movie told TheWrap.

The Ron Mann-directed film chronicles a week in the life of Greenwich Village guitar maker Rick Kelly and his apprentice Cindy Hulej.
