Kandi's singing range is very versatile, she is able to sing in a very low contralto and is also being able to reach high pitches, she is even capable of the whistle register (the very high, ear-piercing note Mariah Carey is well-known to use regularly), notable songs in which Kandi showcases this height include hits " My Little Secret" and "Understanding".

Her fiancé, Ashley Jewell, died from an injury sustained during a brawl in the parking lot of an Atlanta strip club on October 3, 2009.

Has three children: daughter Riley Burruss (b. August 22, 2002) with her ex-boyfriend Russell Spencer; son Ace Wells Tucker (b. January 6, 2016) and daughter Blaze Tucker (b. November 22, 2019) with her husband Todd Tucker.

(April 4, 2014) Married her boyfriend of 3 years Todd Tucker following a 15-month-long engagement.

Her daughter Blaze was born via surrogate. The surrogate was pregnant with twins, but lost one of the babies.

She was also recognized as the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Award for Songwriter of the Year 2000

Kandi returns to recording with her second album "I Need", released through independent label Upfront Records. (January 2006)
