  • An exceptional fielder like his elder brother Ian, Chappell retired with 122 catches to his name.
  • Scored a century on his test debut against England in 1970, a century in both innings of his first ever test as captain against West Indies at Brisbane in 1975 and a century in his penultimate test match against Pakistan in 1984. It was also the final test of fellow Australian greats, pace legend Dennis Lillee and record holding wicketkeeper Rodney Marsh.
  • Captained Australia in 48 tests, winning 21 of them.
  • Was voted by ESPN Cricinfo as the 17th greatest cricketer of all-time in 2001.
  • Most prolific batsman of the breakaway World Series Cricket with 1415 runs averaging 56.
  • Wisden Cricketer of the Year, 1973.
