Netflix drops first trailer for The Thursday Murder Club
Image
There are some casts that you would want to watch even if they were being themselves, and sitting around a dinner table talking about whatever. That's the case with the Ocean's 11 crew with George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and all the others. They are entertaining in themselves.

The same can be said of the cast of Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club. A bunch of actors you know from a bunch of things perform their roles as an older group of Brits who go about solving murders for fun. It's a bit like Only Murders in the Building, but...wait. No, it's a lot like that Hulu series.

This is especially true as the plot of Ttmc turns when the three Brits and one Irish lad, played by Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan (he's Irish), Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie, find that a murder has occurred extremely close to them.

These are the 6 Harlan Coben shows in the works
Image
Harlan Coben has become a key creator of Netflix shows, and it’s not going to stop anytime soon! Here’s a look at what other shows based on the author’s works are coming to the streamer.

Since 1990, Harlan Coben has become a bestselling author known for twisty crime thrillers and dramas that often involve exploring the secrets buried behind seemingly idyllic families and neighborhoods. That includes the Myron Bolitar series and scores of stand-alone novels.

Not surprisingly, there have been some adaptations of Coben’s works, such as Prime Video’s short-lived Shelter. However, in 2018, Coben signed a deal with Netflix which has since produced eight limited series based on his various novels. The latest, Missing You, debuted on January 1, 2025.

However, that’s far from the last project coming to the streamer. Here’s 6 Harlan Coben shows that are in the works and coming to Netflix (and actually...

Next Harlan Coben Netflix show will be missing a fan-favorite star
Image
For the first time in a long time, Richard Armitage will not be starring in the next Harlan Coben Netflix show.

Netflix just revealed the cast of Run Away, the next of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows. While there are a few who have starred in other Harlan Coben Netflix shows, including James Nesbitt, in the cast, it's notably missing a key player from many of those shows: Armitage.

According to Netflix, Armitage will not be in Run Away. Instead, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, and Ruth Jones will star in the upcoming thriller based on Coben's book of the same name.

Regarding Armitage's absence in Run Away, Coben told Netflix: “I'm sure we'll work together again in the future.”

New Harlan Coben series 'Run Away' will have fantastic cast
Image
Harlan Coben's next series on Netflix will be Run Away. The eight-episode series will be based on Coben's book from 2019. And just like with everything else Coben, you know you are going to want to see it. The recently announced cast will certainly make that a possibility.

The plot involves a father, Simon, whose eldest daughter, Paige, runs away. Simon searches for her (of course!) but finds her high on drugs in a city park. The story does not end there, though. Simon thinks Paige is alone, but she isn't, and violence ensues. He loses his daughter all over again, and his new search for her sends him into an underworld that could tear their family apart.

But who is playing Simon and who is playing Paige? That is what you really want to know, right? Good news! We now know all that information.

Run Away was announced in January 2024 alongside Missing You, and it will feature a cast filled with famous names. Per Tudum, Good Will Hunting's Minnie Driver will be joined by 15 other familiar names.

Richard Osman Pokes Fun At Netflix Chief Ted Sarandos’ Recipe For Streaming Success
Image
Richard Osman may be turning his hit novel The Thursday Murder Club into a Netflix feature, but it has not stopped him from roasting the streamer’s chief executive.

During a jolly curtain closer at the Rts London Convention, Osman and his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast co-host Marina Hyde, cast a satirical eye over the day’s speakers.

Osman poked fun at comments made by Ted Sarandos during his opening keynote, in which the Netflix co-ceo shared the secrets of streaming success to an audience of British television luminaries.

Sarandos added that “there’s no reason we couldn’t take 25%” audience share in the UK, which would more than double Netflix’s current viewership of 10%.

Lacing his comments with sarcasm, Osman joked: “We’ve all been in the business a long time and, by and large, we don’t really know what we’re doing. He knows how to...

The Doctor Who Reunion I Really Want Is Happening In A Totally Different Franchise
Image
Exciting news: Tenth Doctor and Osgood to reunite in Netflix's Thursday Murder Club Movie with new castmates! Fans will finally see David Tennant and Ingrid Oliver collaborate again after years apart in a different franchise. Unlikely to see a return of Tenth Doctor interacting with Osgood in Doctor Who, making this reunion special.

The reunion of those from the Doctor Who franchise is always an exciting moment, but while the one I've waited so patiently for is confirmed to be happening, it's set to unfold away from the long-running British sci-fi show. Some of the best Doctor Who companions and other friends are used very sparingly, and that is certainly the case with one of the show's stars who is set to reunite with a fellow Doctor Who actor. Regardless, I'm still excited to see them collaborate again after so long apart.

Few actors who have played the Doctor...

Fun Things You Might Not Know About Richard Osman’s House of Games
Image
Is Richard Osman’s House of Games the perfect teatime quiz show? It’s certainly in contention. Silly, funny and warm, it makes very good company. The armchairs exude a sense of convivial relaxation. There are no flashing-lights podiums or tense burden of cash prizes, making it a wholly gentler experience than, say, The Chase. It keeps the same four contestants all week long, meaning that the kind of rapport other quiz shows try to manufacture in rapid-fire Q&As with the host can naturally develop. The personalities and relationships are almost as important as the rounds and questions, and it’s all done with a sense of humour – from the deliberately naff 1970s gameshow-style fondue sets and carriage clock prizes, to the enjoyable silliness behind almost every round.

To celebrate the new series airing now on weekdays at 6pm on BBC Two, here are a few fun titbits about the show.

The House of Games Wheelie Luggage is Finally Up For Grabs!
Image
Forget the Countdown teapot or the Pointless Trophy. The most coveted prize on UK television has four wheels, an extendable handle and a quiff.

Since October 2019, Richard Osman’s House of Games has occasionally offered a wheelie suitcase among its selection of kitsch branded prizes. For context – whichever celebrity contestant wins that day’s episode has a choice of five rewards decorated with the face of host and creator Richard Osman. The prizes range from the glamorous (a decanter) to the practical (gardening gloves) to the playful (a dartboard) to the esoteric.

The greatest of these, and by far the most popular, is the wheelie suitcase. In the 430 or so episodes since its first appearance in October 2019, the luggage has been chosen by celebrity contestants 60 times out of a possible 86*. In other words, the baggage reclaim at Edinburgh airport around the time of the Fringe Festival is chock-a-block with them.

Doctor Who: What Monster Spin-Offs Could the Expanded Whoniverse See?
Image
Returning showrunner Russell T Davies has spoken in the past about how the previous Doctor Who spin-offs came too soon. Given the current expanded universe boom across various franchises led by Marvel’s dominance of cinema and subsequent ventures into TV, the launch of The Sarah-Jane Adventures, Torchwood, etc…. was ahead of its time.

Now, Davies argues, is the moment for Doctor Who‘s version of the MCU. And according to a recent article on mirror.co.uk, that’s exactly what’s about to happen. Rumour has it that fans can expect spin-off series featuring some of the Doctor’s most famous enemies.

The Mirror’s anonymous source suggested: “Fans can expect to see Sontarans, Weeping Angels and Sea Devils in separate series showing what they get up to when the Doctor isn’t there to stop them, along with Daleks and Cybermen.”
