Kaiju No. 8 was one of the most thrilling yet fun anime series in 2024. Written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto, it involves a very likable cast of characters with a great balance between seriousness and humor.

It might use a standard Shonen formula, but it definitely has a few advantages over most of them. Kaiju No. 8 doesn’t involve a lot of fan service, and the women are amongst the strongest characters. It also features gorgeous and fluid animation. All of these traits make it an easy show to watch, with just 12 episodes.

The official website of Kaiju No. 8‘s anime adaptation revealed that the second season of the anime will start airing in Japan from July 19, 2025, on TV Tokyo and other networks at 11:00 p.m. Jst.

Back in August, Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 was confirmed for a 2025 release along with theatrical screenings of the first season. The compilation will screen along with a special episode titled "Hoshina's Day Off," and it's officially set to kick off a three-week run in 32 theaters across Japan on March 28, 2025. The Kaiju No. 8 Special Exhibition —a themed installation featuring some 120 pieces of art inspired by Naoya Matsumoto's hit shonen action / science fiction manga and its TV anime adaptation—is heading to the Gallery AaMo venue in Tokyo Dome City, Tokyo, Japan from September 13 – November 10, 2024. Additionally, it was also revealed that a compilation film of Season 1, along with a special episode titled ‘Hoshina’s Day Off” is currently in production and will be released in the theatres in 2025.

Popular anime series “Kaiju No. 8” may have just concluded its inaugural season on Crunchyroll, and the streaming service announced over the weekend that production is already underway on a sequel season.

Crunchyroll will broadcast the series’ return in 200 territitories and countries worldwide, with broadcast information Tba.

Production I.G (Psycho-Pass; Ghost in the Shell) animates the series, with kaiju artwork and design supervision by Studio Khara (Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition, Shin Godzilla (Pre Visualization Development)). The anime is adapted from the original manga created by Naoya Matsumoto.

Hit Japanese anime series Kaiju No. 8 is getting a second season. Shortly after the credits rolled on the show’s season-one finale Saturday, global specialty streamer Crunchyroll revealed that work is already underway at the storied Japanese anime studio Production I.G for a follow-up story arc. Crunchyroll says it will stream the season two return of Kaiji No. 8 in over 200 countries, with the specific release plans to be revealed at a later date.

Kaiju No. 8 is adapted from the original manga created by Naoya Matsumoto. The show is animated by Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) with kaiju artwork and design supervision by Studio Khara (Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition, Shin Godzilla).

The colossal thrills of Naoya Matsumoto's Kaiju No. 8 are heading to mobile and PC in a newly announced game currently titled Kaiju No. 8 The Game . The official accounts shared a reveal trailer for the project, which Akatsuki Games is developing and distributing for mobile devices and PC, with production and promotional cooperation from Toho and Production I.G. In Kaiju No. 8's previous episodes, the Sagamihara Neutralization Operation was supposed to be a textbook Defense Force mission. The ground units would lay down suppressive fire and Captain Mina Ashiro would bring out the big guns. Instead, it left officers Leno Ichikawa and Iharu Furuhashi mortally wounded and Kafka Hibino against his commanding officer, Vice Captain Hoshina. For better and worse, the latter doesn't know about Kafka's alter-ego. Previously, Episode 7 upped the anime's ante by showing the depths of Kaiju No. 9's villainy with a dangerous encounter. Luckily, Kafka arrived in time to save his friends from the jaws of death. But in doing so, Kafka is also risking not only his secret kaiju identity but his life as well in Episode 8.

Only new shows, so no Black Butler: Public School Arc, My Hero Academia season 7, Laid Back Camp season 3, etc. as if you're already a fan you'll be watching them anyway and if you're curious about any of them I would recommend you start at the very beginning, I hear it's a very good place to start.
