Just when I thought Top Chef couldn’t get more intense, this week’s episode dropped us straight into an action movie territory. Inspired by none other than Tom Cruise and his famous Mission: Impossible legacy, Episode 9 of Season 22 served up a challenge that was all about taking some major risks.

Last week in the season premiere of Top Chef, "Across Canada, We Go!," the chefs teamed up for a Quickfire Challenge in which they based their dishes around specific sets of ingredients chosen from the Top Chef pantry and by each of the judges. The team of César Murillo, Mimi Weissenborn, and Katianna Hong won that battle with their apple and fennel soup with clams, corn, and chorizo relish. But Mimi had much less luck in the Elimination Challenge, which pitted the teammates against each other as they prepared meals inspired by the five different regions of Canada. Vincenzo "Vinny" Loseto prevailed with a perfectly cooked confit salmon, but Mimi was unable to manage her time effectively. She overcooked her potatoes and dried out her pork. So she was eliminated and sent to Last Chance Kitchen in the hopes of earning a spot back in the main competition.

Turn on the oven, the Season 22 cast of Bravo’s “Top Chef” reality series is ready.

It’s heating up in the kitchen once again as 15 new chefs have joined the competition series with a mission to win the biggest prize in the show’s history — $250,000 and a $125,000 flight credit to spend on travel. In addition, the winner will be featured in Food & Wine Magazine and appear at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.

Kristen Kish, Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons return as the cast’s coaches, as this season spotlights the local food scene of Canada, including Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Prince Edward Island.

The show is back for its 22nd season and the lineup is full of a variety of talented chefs who have plenty of experience in the industry.

Top Chef Season 22: Meet The Cast Of Bravo’s Culinary Reality Series

The contestants of this season of Top Chef include Anya El-Wattar who is from Moscow and is a chef at Birch & Rye. Bailey Sullivan is from Chicago, Ill is a Chef Di Cucina at Monteverde. Up next, César Murillo is from Dallas, Texas and is an executive chef at North Pond and Corwin Hemming is from Augusta, Georgia and has been working as a private and pop-up chef.

We heard it was hard to get a hotel room at San Diego Comic-Con, but are people really forced to go to such drastic measures as sleep four to a car? Err, not really.
