Adopted at birth to an American father in the USAF and a Japanese mother.

Ethnically Greek, raised in a Japanese-American household.

Born in Washington, DC, he moved with his adoptive mother to Kumamoto, where Japanese became his first language. It was not until he was 5 that he returned to the USA and picked up English as a second language.

Mikos played a mean lead guitar in several metal bands, including the now defunct Omega Point, a progressive metal band. He also played bass in a Pop band touring Hawaii.

Won Best Director for "Accommodations" at 9Film Festival.
