A Denver-born, Santa Monica-based filmmaker was among the three Americans who died in the avalanche that hit Mount Everest on Saturday that was triggered by the devastating Nepal earthquake.  Documentary filmmaker Tom Taplin, 61, was named as one of the three that included Google exec Dan Fredinburg. Marisa Eve Girawong, a camp doctor with a Seattle-based mountaineering company, was the third American who died in the avalanche.
