Tobias Deml is an Austrian Producer, Director and Cinematographer, and began his career as a digital artist in 2004. He is best known for directing the HBO Max Docu-Series "Gaming Wall Street" (2022), and shooting Luc Besson's indie film "June & John (2025).

To date, Tobias has shot 14 feature films, and lensed, produced or directed more than 100 short-form projects.

Most notable in his work, next to "Gaming Wall Street" and "June & John", is the social impact feature "Strive", the SXSW feature thriller "Hangman", the Verizon Go90 Series "The Boonies", the Netflix horror "Drifter" and the blackpills series "A Girl is A Gun". He was lucky to work as a DP with stellar actors such as Amy Smart, Lance Reddick, Colin Hanks, Denise Richards, Michael Madsen, Ty Simpkins, Morris Chestnut, Julian McMahon, Jeremy Sisto, Kate Ashfield, Andrew Daly and more. Tobias has developed and taught the only class in Cinematography at UC Berkeley.

Tobias began his career in 2004 while still in high school, working as a freelance CGI artist using Cinema 4D, eventually expanding into graphic design, photography and digital retouching. In 2009, he switched over into film where he used his broad existing skillset to build proficiency as a filmmaker, on set and in editorial. His main intellectual pursuit is understanding how film influences us - and how this impact can be used effectively and ethically. He graduated with a BA in Film Studies from UC Berkeley, where he wrote his thesis "Cinema of Change: The Persuasive Impact of Narrative Motion Pictures on Society and Individuals". He co-owns and manages LA-based Prodigium Pictures LLC, a production company specializing in social impact entertainment.

Next to the creative side of production, he co-founded the SIE Society, the first trade association for Social Impact Entertainment. 1,500 members strong, Tobias leads content for the Society, which includes being the Head of Programming for the annual Impact+Profit conference in Los Angeles.

His principles as an artist and collaborator are Purpose, Productivity, Creativity, Ethics and Quality Control.
