Biography

    • Pat Smith is a Toronto born writer, producer and actor. Most recently, Pat has worked as a writer and co-producer on the Netflix Original Series, Travelers (seasons 1-3), as well as Mary Kills People on Global/Lifetime (2018 Canadian Screen Award Nominee; Best Drama). Prior to joining the Travelers/MKP families, Pat worked on the writing team for Season Two of the Netflix series, Between. Pat can be seen playing a satirized version of himself as the sports anchor on the CSA Nominated comedy series (Best Sketch Comedy/Variety Series, 2018), The Beaverton, now airing Season 2 on The Comedy Network with Season 3 set for Bell Media's main network, CTV in 2019.

In 2015, Pat became an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre (CFC) as a graduate of the Bell Media Prime Time TV Writers Program. Before joining the CFC, he was performing as a member of The Second City National Touring Company. In 2013, he was awarded the CTV Bell Media National Fellowship, recognizing him as one of Canada's top up and coming show creators. This comes after an exciting 2012, where Pat co-created, co-wrote and co-starred in his first TV series, "Guidance" for BlueAnt Media/Bite TV. The series was nominated for a 2014 Canadian Comedy Award in the category of "Best Writing in a TV Series".

As a partner at the collective, 83 Pictures, Pat has been fortunate to work on some amazing short form projects made and sold for broadcast: "The Lakeview" (2009, CBC), "Happiness is Hate Therapy" (2010, CBC, Bravo!) and "Boss of Me" (2011, CBC, Bravo!). With 83, Pat also wrote and starred in some acclaimed web videos such as "Suburbanite" (2010 Canadian Comedy Award Nominee) and "Call Me Dad" (2011 Canadian Comedy Award Nominee).

As a comedian, Pat has performed for The Second City (2009-2011, 2013-2014) while also studying improv and sketch comedy with members of: The Impatient Theatre Company, Bad Dog Theatre Company, i.O West (L.A.), The Pit (New York) and The Groundlings (L.A.). His work on stage has allowed him to perform all over North America, including the Just For Laughs Festival in Toronto with his sketch duo "Haircut" that was also awarded the "Audience Choice Award" in 2009 at the prestigious Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival.
