The early days of cable were glorious. TV sets didn't go dark for hours at a time. Instead, people had 24-access to whatever entertainment they wanted, and this led to a proliferation of specialty channels that focused on one thing. Enter The Comedy Channel and Ha!, which focused mostly on sitcom reruns and old movies. These two channels would later merge into a single entity, Comedy Central, with a greater emphasis on original programming.
It didn't take long for the Comedy Central to find its footing and release a sizable selection of animated series, sketch comedy shows, and stand-up specials. The channel soon became the place to visit to see what emerging comedic talent was ready to break into the mainstream. Considering that comedy is subjective, it may be difficult to rank the best Comedy Central shows of all time. What's hilarious to one person can be grating to another.

Celebrity Jeopardy! fans have noticed a big change to the spinoff game show that they think is for the better. Comedian Robin Thede from Davenport, Iowa, actor Blake Anderson from Concord, California, and actor and comedian Susie Essman competed against each other on Wednesday, February 12. Thede won $25, 800 for her charity, Women in Film. Essman came in second with $4,900 for City Harvest. Anderson ended with -$1,100 but was given $500 for his charity, Turtle Conservancy. Fans think that there is less “goofing around” on the celebrity version of the game show, especially on Season 3, than there used to be in the past. Watchers chimed in on the change and when they think it happened. This realization came during a Reddit thread after last night’s episode. “Celebrities taking the game seriously,” they captioned the post. “Has anyone noticed that there isn’t as much ‘goofing around’ on Celebrity Jeopardy as there used to be?...

Waymond Lee, best known for his role in Comedy Central’s “Workaholics,” has died. He was 72.

The Catherine Zeta-Jones reference on Workaholics pays homage to her iconic laser-dodging scene in Entrapment. The episode 'Office Campout' also inspired Blake Anderson's movie 'Game Over, Man!', blending action and comedy. Workaholics' ability to seamlessly integrate pop culture references showcases its unique humor and creativity.
The Workaholics Catherine Zeta-Jones "she dips beneath the lasers" quote seems totally random, but it's actually a clever pop culture reference. Known for its irreverent humor and absurd situations, the show follows Blake (Blake Henderson), Adam (Adam DeVine), and Anders (Anders Holmvik) as they navigate their twenties while working at a telemarketing company, TelAmeriCorp, blending their work lives with their absurd shared living situation. Workaholics started as a web series and caught Comedy Central's attention for adeptly mixing slapstick, witty dialogue, and pop culture references, securing its place in the hearts of a dedicated fan base.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is a Welsh actress whose career spans decades.

With Adam DeVine's recent success starring in Netflix's The Out-Laws (produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore Productions), the actor is once again in the spotlight. So, fans are questioning why the Workaholics movie was put on hold by Paramount+. Considering DeVine's recent performance and the joint co-star Workaholics podcast This is Important gaining popularity, now seems like the best time to get the gears turning once more.
Playing a familiar role to the one he portrays in the hit comedy series Workaholics, DeVine carried The Out-Laws film into the top 10 of the Most Popular Movies IMDb Chart with his reluctant shrieks and playful banter. Along with the film's success, DeVine has gained popularity featuring in his joint co-star podcast, This is Important, along with Blake Anderson, Anders Holm, and Kyle Newacheck. ‘The Out-Laws’ Review: Adam Devine Tangles With Pierce Brosnan In Over-Stuffed Netflix Action Comedy
In 1979, Peter Falk and the late great Alan Arkin made the perfect odd couple in the classic action comedy The In-Laws. It even spawned a not-bad remake with Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks in 2003. The difference between those films, and a bit of an attempt to do something similar in the cleverly titled The Out-Laws, which starts streaming on Netflix today, is that those movies were genuinely funny –particularly the Arkin-Falk teaming. But this one, also a kind of Meet the Parents on steroids, relies far too heavily on nonstop and incessant action scenes to carry us through its 95-minute running time.
The fault here does not lie with its cast, which is pretty impressive overall. Basically this is a comedic vehicle for Adam Devine, who not only stars but also helped develop the Ben Zazove and Evan Turner script as well as producing with Happy Madison’s Adam Sandler and Allen Covert.

Benito Skinner may live in Los Angeles now, and when we meet via Zoom for our interview, he's in Paris, but there were four years after college during which he lived in New York. It's a place he remembers fondly: "I feel like New York really raised me, which sounds a little cliché, but it did," he said. "That's where I did my early stand-up. All my videos were pretty much me running around Bushwick and Williamsburg in wigs and feverishly editing in random coffee shops, just trying to make it."
This is why attending the Tribeca Festival premiere of his newest film, First Time Female Director, which he called his "first big role in a movie," is sort of like a homecoming. "[New York] just felt like the perfect place for a movie that means so much to me and that I'm so honored to be a part of. It was truly so special.

Written and directed by Chelsea Peretti, First Time Female Director lives in the self-deprecating world of meta storytelling. Debuting at the Tribeca Festival in the Spotlight Narrative section, Peretti put so much of herself into this narrative, it could work as a documentary. It’s also such a comically honest portrayal of what women must endure if they want to get ahead in any career, let alone the theater business. Having to constantly prove to yourself and others that you are capable is so exhausting, but can also be rewarding if you are set up for success. Many are often left to fend for themselves, and the film shows one way of how that can happen.
In addition to Peretti, First Time Female Director boast a hefty cast including Amy Poehler, Andy Richter, Benito Skinner, Blake Anderson, Megan Stalter, Megan Mullally, Jak Knight, and Xosha Roquemore, Kate Berlant and many more.

You can probably guess the premise of Chelsea Peretti’s occasionally amusing film First Time Female Director from its title. The comedy, written and directed by the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star, follows the misadventures of a local theater’s first woman director — how scandal thrusts her into the spotlight and a lack of institutional support tries to yank her out of it. In its roughly 29 seasons, productions at the fictional Regis Theater in Glendale have only ever been directed by men. Sam, an anxious playwright played by Peretti, is about to change that.
As with so many recent historical firsts, Sam’s appointment is propelled by a misbehaving man. When a shocking impropriety shakes the community theater, its artistic director Sheldon Clifford (Andy Richter) fires popular director Greggy Thompson (Tim Heidecker). Sam wasn’t Sheldon’s first, second or, if we’re being honest, even third choice, as evidenced by...

Meeting your partner’s parents can be challenging. Regardless of your confidence in your relationship, a wrong move with the parental units can spell disaster for your future. For Adam Devine‘s Owen Browning, he never banked on his fiancee’s parents being accomplished bank robbers. This hurdle is a tricky jump for Owen, a by-the-books bank manager, and all-around goofball. For more than 20 years, the Tribeca Festival has given up-and-coming directors a star-studded New York City showcase. This year, though, the fest is offering well-known actors a chance to show up as directors. Michael Shannon, David Duchovny, Chelsea Peretti, Jennifer Esposito, John Slattery, and partners Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater all directed movies that will world premiere there, with Rabe and Linklater, Shannon, Peretti and Esposito making their feature directorial debuts.
In addition to those selections, Tribeca will feature the North American and New York premieres, respectively, of Steve Buscemi’s The Listener, which had its world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, and Randall Park’s Shortcomings, which debuted at Sundance. And the festival will close with a 30th anniversary screening of A Bronx Tale, the directorial debut of Tribeca co-founder Robert De Niro.
