Casey McKinnon was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. She studied Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, holds a BA degree from McGill University, and resides in Los Angeles.

She launched her theatre career playing a gender-bent Guildenstern in 'Hamlet Max' at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and later that year played Lady Stutfield in Oscar Wilde's 'A Woman of No Importance' at Sacred Fools Theatre. In 2015, she played Grete in the revival of Donald Margulies's 'Sight Unseen' at The Lounge Theatre in Hollywood's historic Theatre Row, gaining critical praise.

She made her big screen debut in independent western film Six Reasons Why (2008) working opposite Colm Feore (The Amazing Spider-Man : Le Destin d'un héros (2014), Thor (2011), Les Chroniques de Riddick (2004)), and has lent her elven features to roles in ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining (2011) and Elf Sabers (2011).

Best known for her extensive web series career, she has earned a number of awards, and millions of followers online. Her two best known series, science fiction comedy show Galacticast (2006) and comic book review show A Comicbook Orange (2007), went viral multiple times, receiving over 13 million views. She has written about her experience as a web series pioneer for The Guardian, appeared as a guest on TableTop (2012) with Wil Wheaton, produced and directed Sony's official San Diego Comic-Con coverage, and promoted STEM education by playing a female engineer in NASA's official YouTube series IRrelevant Astronomy (2008).

My dream in life is to be on a show like Star Trek; to be involved in something so massive, and so friendly that influences culture, politics, and everything. I just try my best day to day to make something like that happen.
