Fox has just decided to not go ahead with its police procedural series Alert: Missing Persons Unit and crime drama series The Cleaning Lady. The network announced this Friday that The Cleaning Lady’s recent Season 4 finale will be its last episode and it’s a similar case for Alert: Missing Persons Unit.

Based on the Argentine TV series titled La Chica que Limpia, the crime drama series was adapted for Fox by Miranda Kwok. It follows Thony De La Rosa, a brilliant Cambodian doctor who has to come to the United States to get her sick son treated but things don’t go to plan forcing her to go into hiding and start working as a cleaning lady for an organized criminal gang.

The Cleaning Lady Season 4 aired its finale episode on June 3, which has sadly now become its final episode.

The Cleaning Lady is halfway through its fourth season on Fox, and the network has officially reached a verdict on the series’ future. Fox has announced that The Cleaning Lady has been canceled and will not receive a fifth season. The show went through a heavy creative retooling between Seasons 3 and 4, and ratings thus far have not been good enough to warrant another season of the series. It’s unclear at this time if Fox will shop the series around. Starring in the lead role of Thony in The Cleaning Lady is Elodie Yung, who’s best known for her role as Elektra in Netflix’s Daredevil series. The Italians

Opening in US cinemas on Friday 11 April, The Italians is a lively family comedy full of big personalities, not least Angelina, the matriarch, who is played by director Michelle Danner. Michelle and I have spoken in the past, about the drama Miranda’s Victim which she made with Abigail Breslin – who also appear in this film – so she was keen to reconnect and tell me what she’s been up to since then.

“After Miranda's Victim, I did The Italians,” she tells me. “And after The Italians, I went to Italy, to Puglia, to do a movie called Under The Stars about romance with Toni Collette, Andy Garcia, Alex Pettyfer, Eva De Dominici and lots of wonderful actors. I'm in post for that. And hopefully I'm preparing for another movie right now that I'm going to shoot in June.”

The Cleaning Lady is coming back for season 4, so here’s what to remember about the underrated Fox crime drama!

The Cleaning Lady premiered on Fox in 2022 and became a surprise sleeper hit. It centers on Thony De La Rosa (Elodie Yung), a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon living in Las Vegas with her ill five-year-old son, Luca. With her visa expired, Thony is reduced to being a cleaning lady at a local casino to make ends meet.

The plot kicked in when Thony witnessed drug lord Arman Morales (Adan Canto) killing a rival. To save her life, Thony offers to clean up the crime scene. Before long, she’s the go-to “cleaner” for the mob and it gets worse when the FBI pushes her to become an informant.

We know TV characters have to die. Sometimes, it’s the villains that we’re ready for and cheering about. Other times, it’s the good guys sacrificing themselves for something bigger. Then there are simply the shocking deaths that we just didn’t see coming. 2024 had a great mixture of them all.

Some deaths hit us the hardest. We still can’t think of the shows without thinking of those deaths. In some cases, they’ve just hit the right time despite bring filmed months or years earlier. The future of The Cleaning Lady at Fox has been revealed. The series will be returning for a fourth season, but it will notably come with a change in creative leadership.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, The Cleaning Lady has been renewed for Season 4. However, executive producers and showrunners Miranda Kwok and Jeannine Renshaw are stepping down from those positions. Kwok will reportedly stay on board as an executive consultant with plans to put more focus into new program development with Warner Bros. Television. The studio is now searching for a new showrunner to take charge of The Cleaning Lady starting with Season 4.
