In his twenties, the comedian, director, and actor Mike Birbiglia learned to play the guitar because of its theatrical simplicity. “I always admired people who could walk into a bar and just… that’s the show,” he tells me. He liked the idea of not having to tech beforehand. No sound check. No cast. “I am the — this is the show. And I feel like this one’s the closest to that. You can walk into a bar and go, Mike’s gonna tell a story.”

Saturday Night Live's milestone 50th season ended last week, but the laughs are still coming ... in the form of bloopers
NBC has released a full three minutes of hilarious oopsie-daisies and cast members breaking from the 2024-25 season of SNL. The collection includes moments from live shows, pretaped videos, dress rehearsals, and stage promos.
The video opens with Ego Nwodim as her "Miss Eggy" stand-up comedian persona reacting in shock when the audience shouts "Sh-t!" after she asks, "Cause these men ain't what?" The audio was later cut to avoid an FCC fine, but viewers can still watch Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che cracking up in the background. "Lorne gonna be mad at y'all," Nwodim said in reference to showrunner Lorne Michaels.
More gut-busting SNL Season 50 bloopers include the following:

“SNL” host Scarlett Johansson introduced the “Please Don’t Destroy” trio to first-class flying in last night’s final installment of the season, but things took a sour note when the group realized they’d be landing at the problem-plagued Newark Liberty International Airport — and doing so at the mercy of newbie airport controller Bad Bunny.
The sketch began with Johansson, who hosted the season finale, offers to pay for a first-class trip for the group. Upon boarding the plane the surroundings turned into a rap video set, with Johansson dropping a few bars of her own.
Things took a downward turn after the actress told the guys they would be landing at Newark — the very same airport that has contended with outages and scaled back operations in recent weeks. John Higgins stopped to ask if planes have been crashing at Newark, but Ben Marshall answered, “I think they’re just losing them.

In the final Please Don’t Destroy video for the season, the depressed trio were treated to a little vacation complete with first-class airline tickets courtesy of the finale’s host Scarlett Johansson. Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy were enjoying the perks of first class alongside glam track suit-wearing Johansson — breaking into a song and dance — until she mentioned that they would be landing at Newark, the New Jersey airport whose recent air traffic control woes have been making national headlines.
The guys’ concerns were soon validated as the pilots of their plane couldn’t make contact with Newark and their navigation screens went black. In the shaking first-class cabin, emergency signs came on, with playing hands flashing next to the “no smoking” light.
“Looks like this is it guys. Anything to get off your chest?,” Herlihy yelled.
“This might sound corny but the only thing I regret is...

As Saturday Night Live closes out its 50th season, who better to host the finale than Scarlett Johansson? The two-time Oscar nominee (Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit) is no stranger to Studio 8H: in addition to hosting six previous times, she's also married to Weekend Update host Colin Jost, making it easier for her to pop up for some surprise cameos here and there.
This year on the film circuit, Johansson is reuniting with Asteroid City director Wes Anderson for The Phoenician Scheme, and she's also starring in the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth. For once in the life of Charlie Cale she is no longer on the run since Beatrix Hasp gave her freedom papers in the previous episode of Poker Face. She could go home, or she could seek new adventures and continue her crime-solving spree. There will come a time where she will have to ask herself if she’s in it for the glory of being right or the benevolence of it all.

Now that she’s away from the mob, Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) can finally build her life on her own. However, knowing Charlie, she finds herself roped into absurd schemes through no fault of her own. “The Taste of Human Blood” is one of those episodes, with plenty of absurdity hanging over it. Luckily, it’s got the TV vets and comedic actors to pull off the ridiculous premise with brilliant execution. Kumail Nanjiani and Gaby Hoffman lead a fun ensemble this time around.

Natasha Lyonne returns as off-kilter detective Charlie Cale in “Poker Face” Season 2. The wacky casino worker with a keen ability to tell whether someone is lying has found herself in the middle of more trouble and murder mysteries.
“I can tell when someone’s lying,” Charlie (Lyonne) says in the Wednesday trailer for the series as she tries to sniff out Cynthia Erivo’s true identity. “It’s a thing I do, so who are you?”
This season features a slew of top tier guest stars. Charlie calls “bull” on Erivo’s ‘Felicity Price’ in the trailer, while John Mulaney appears as an FBI agent and Please Don’t Destroy’s Ben Marshall almost catches himself on fire with a blowtorch. Charlie can also be seen telling John Cho’s character that no one can stump her. “Game on Charlie Cale,” the alleged professional liar replies. “I’m going to be the first.

All the way back in February 2023, we got the good news that Poker Face starring Natasha Lyonne was renewed for a second season. However it's been very delayed due to the actors and writers strikes that happened that year. Which meant the wait between seasons has been longer than anticipated. Thankfully now, we have lots of updates about Poker Face season 2, including the release date!
Created by Rian Johnson, the series became an instant hit when it premiered on Peacock. That has to do with the great stortelling, Lyonne's superb acting, and also the great number of guest stars we could expect to see with each new episode. Since it's been a while and there's been multiple updates, we've rounded them all for you here. Here's 3 updates you might have missed on Poker Face season 2.

The Please Don’t Destroy guys set their sights on spoofing The Voice this week by having Shane Gillis play a singer they’d very much like to forget.

Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary special is casting a long shadow, or maybe just causing a long hangover, at least as depicted in SNL‘s latest promo featuring this week’s guest host Shane Gillis and various still-reeling cast members.
In the promo – watch it above – Gillis is greeted in the studio by cast member Ashley Padilla, who tries to reassure the host that the cast is fully recovered from the big party and ready to play.
Gillis isn’t persuaded – a snoring Michael Longfellow (or is it Marcello Hernandez?) is passed out, Mikey Day is wandering around in Sarah Sherman’s clothes and Please Don’t Destroy’s Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy are arguing over which one of them is Ben.
The ante is upped with the arrival of a remorseful Emil Wakim, who asks if anyone knows a “good tattoo removal guy.” Nothing good ever...

We’ve got a window for when Poker Face returns, so here’s a peek when you can see the return of TV’s most unusual crime solver!
Poker Face was a huge winner with audiences and critics when it debuted on Peacock in 2023. It’s been a longer wait for season 2 as the show was delayed by issues such as the 2023 Hollywood strikes and the busy schedule of creator Rian Johnson.
Thankfully, it’s coming with The Hollywood Reporter sharing a first peek at Poker Face season 2. That includes how it’s eying a spring 2025 release date. That’s likely going to be April or early May.

Natasha Lyonne and Rian Johnson's hit streaming series, Poker Face, is set to return this year. And, well? The list of people they've finagled to guest star in Season 2 is actually unhinged. Like, the list of people who are going to be on this show is truly outrageous and unfathomable to someone like me, a person who does not cast television shows. But if I did? And I managed to pull this off? I'd be screaming it from the rooftop, folks. Because this cast list? It's truly the best of the best of the funniest, most talented people currently working in Hollywood.
And it seems that Lyonne and Johnson recognize that, sending along a note with the press release teasing the series' forthcoming slate of episodes. And though we don't know the exact premiere date yet — all it says is "Spring 2025" — we do know the 12, 60-minute-long episodes will feature Many very,...
