Clutch, the latest action thriller from writer-director Michael Merino, was released this week across Tvod platforms. The film offers an intense, character-driven narrative that blends survival drama with crime thriller elements, set against the gritty backdrop of Los Angeles.
The story follows Tonya played by Sadie Katz, (Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort), a ride-hailing driver, whose routine night is violently interrupted when Xavier, a fugitive on the run, hijacks her car at gunpoint. As the night unfolds, Tonya learns that Xavier has stolen money from Fuentes (Vernon Wells), (Mad Max 2) and is pursued by Fuentes’ men. Tonya is soon forced to decide whether to help Xavier escape or risk everything to fight for her own survival.
Michael Merino, who also penned the screenplay, brings tension-building action, having previously directed Acceleration and Texas Nightmare. Merino takes full advantage of the film’s confined setting and gritty cityscape of downtown Los Angeles.

If you’re a fan of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead’s mind-bending universe, you will recognize actor Shane Brady from films like The Endless and Synchronic. But he is also a talented filmmaker. In 2022, Brady’s directorial debut, Breathing Happy, a weird, wonderful journey through grief and recovery, had its World Premiere at Chattanooga Film Festival. Brady is back for Cff 2025 with his sophomore feature film, the hilariously riotous Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma, which he wrote and directed, and believe it or not, it’s based on a true story.
In 2021, Brady and his wife Emily were planning to buy their first house but were, unfortunately, the victims of a hacker who stole their $20,000 deposit via wire fraud. So, they decided to make a movie about the experience with the log line, “The first ten minutes of this film are based on true events. The rest...

In 2021, a Tampa family lost $20,000 to a hacker. The first 10 minutes of Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma are based on those true events.
The rest? That’s what they wish they could have done to the bastard. And vengeance has never been so fun.
The revenge comedy is written and directed by actor Shane Brady.
Chandler Riggs (“The Walking Dead”), Owen Atlas (Little Evil), Collin Thompson, Katelyn Nacon (“The Walking Dead”), Richard Riehle (Hatchet), Augie Duke (“Mayans M.C.”), Mia Castillo, Brittney Escalante (“9-1-1 Lonestar”), Glenn Stanton (“The Walking Dead”), and Hugh Scott (Deadpool) star.
The Rumble family’s dream of buying their first home turns into a nightmare when Florida’s most elusive hacker, known only as The Chameleon, steals their life savings. But this hacker messed with the wrong family. The banking system failed them. The police won’t help.
Furious and desperate, they...

A fun new comedy movie is on its way as the new trailer for Sour Party—the award-winning film from creative duo Amanda and Michael Drexton—teases a fresh twist on the buddy comedy genre.
In a new trailer revealed by Flickering Myth, the irreverent buddy comedy dives into the chaotic lives of two broke 30-something women, determined to reclaim their dignity (and finances) as they navigate the pitfalls of Los Angeles. Audiences can look forward to surprising appearances from an iconic Goonies, Gremlins and Stand By Me alum and a comedic musician known for Pitch Perfect and his role as musical director of The Late Late Show with James Corden. Brimming with satirical wit and wild encounters, Sour Party delivers a sharply feminist twist on a traditionally male-dominated genre, setting the stage for one outrageous ride through friendship, family pressure, and ill-advised get-rich-quick schemes.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has acquired the global rights for the comedy “Sour Party,” co-written, directed, and produced by the married duo Amanda and Michael Drexton. “This love-hate letter to Los Angeles is a semi-autobiographical ode to the worst parts of ourselves as told by two self-obsessed, flailing 30-somethings,” said the Drextons.
The film stars Samantha Westervelt, another co-writer of the film, alongside “Pitch Perfect 2” alum Reggie Watts, “Stand By Me” cast member Corey Feldman, and Augie Duke from “Mayans M.C.” The film revolves around two broke women, Gwen (Westervelt) and James (Amanda) in their thirties who embark on a mission to collect money from failing, wannabe artists with the hopes of raising enough to buy an expensive gift for a baby shower thrown for Gwen’s sister. “It is a feminist take on the traditional, male-dominated buddy comedy,” said the Drextons.

Chandler Riggs is best known for playing the character Carl Grimes on eight seasons of The Walking Dead, but he has a few horror credits beyond that one – the short Jesus H. Zombie, the Stephen King-inspired Mercy, and the home invasion film Keep Watching. Now Variety reports that Riggs has signed on to star in the horror comedy Hacked, which has secured a SAG Interim agreement so it will be able to go into production during the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike and is expected to start filming soon in Los Angeles and Tampa.
Shane Brady (Breathing Happy) will be directing the film, which is partially inspired by true events. Brady and producer Emily Zercher were hacked in 2021, and according to Variety “the first ten minutes of the film will be based on their experience. The rest of the film shows ‘what they wish they could have done to that bastard.

Chandler Riggs, the actor who grew up playing Carl Grimes on “The Walking Dead,” is set to return to the genre once more in Hacked. Variety reports today that the upcoming horror-comedy has been granted an interim agreement by SAG-AFTRA and is set to begin production soon.
Hacked follows “the story of a family who loses everything to a prolific and elusive hacker, aptly named ‘The Chameleon.’ Parents Amy (Augie Duke) and Mark (Shane Brady) have $20,000 stolen, and their kids Ralph (Owen Atlas) and Freddy (Collin Thompson) get their entire digital lives hacked — social media, video game items, even their pointless online homework! When the bank, social media platforms, and law enforcement aren’t able to help, the family takes matters into their own hands.”
It’s up to the capable true crime documentary obsessed kids to take down the hacker. Riggs will play the elusive antagonist called “The Chameleon.

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode 10 – the series finale – is, hands down, the best episode of the entire series. Amid all the blood and deaths, questions are answered, and dues are stamped paid. Not every character deserves their fate, but every death is, in its own way, justified.

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven says goodbye to two major, longtime players as we head into the final stretch of episodes. The body count explodes in episode seven, with Emily finally getting her hands bloody instead of calling on Ez to do her dirty work, and a Santo Padre associate is taken out after being labeled the club’s rat. Plus, Ibarra’s son finally exacts his revenge at the most inopportune time.
But it’s the gut-wrenching deaths of two key Mayans M.C. characters that make episode seven so heartbreaking.
Plenty of spoilers ahead…you’ve been warned!

There have been countless films about people struggling with drugs and alcohol, but there have not been many that have used magic to tell the story. Shane Brady has partnered with Rustic Films for his highly impressive directorial debut, Breathing Happy, which had its World Premiere at this year’s virtual Chattanooga Film Festival. Written, directed, and edited by Brady, Breathing Happy is a weird, wonderful, highly satisfying journey through grief, addiction, and recovery.
Featuring a ton of easter eggs and the disembodied voices of people like Aaron Moorhead and Dave Lawson, Jr., Breathing Happy follows a man named Dylan, played fantastically by Brady, who is grappling with sobriety on Christmas. Dylan, a recovering drug addict, is about to celebrate being one year sober, but his attempt at dealing with the loss of his family and his dog, seems to be getting in the way of his success. What attracted you to the role of Jules and the story of 6:45?
I liked how real the relationship between Jules and Bobby felt. I liked her authenticity. Also, it was a chance to work with my real-life partner, Michael Reed. We have real chemistry, and it contributed to the believability of our roles.
What kind of preparation did you do for the role and story? Were there any specific reference movies or books that Craig Singer suggested?

Photo: ‘6:45' ‘6:45’ brings a new definition to insanity and loop horror stories with its masterful direction by Craig Singer. In this loop film, the characters end up driving themselves to insanity in pursuit of a solution that only they possess with their varying, swirling deja vu powers. Using repetition in movies means directors find themselves using loop stories to add an element of comedy and hysterical exasperation, but ‘6:45’ did the opposite by utilizing it as a tool to create this traumatic and haunting storyline.
