Matt Huether

Matt Huether is an Emmy-nominated, Humanitas Prize-winning TV writer/producer who's most recently served as co-Showrunner of the family comedy Home Sweet Rome!, shot on location in Italy; as Supervising Producer on the darkly funny drama Mary Kills People; and as Executive Producer on the Netflix original series Degrassi: Next Class. All told, he's written for the acclaimed teen franchise Degrassi for 12 seasons, which allowed him to tell the kinds of stories he loves-- exciting, authentic, delightful, and emotionally-grounded stories about real people from all walks of life. Born in small town Sarnia, Ontario, and raised by 80s and 90s television, Matt has also written for shows as varied as The LA Complex and Hot Wheels Battle Force 5, has been nominated for four WGC Screenwriting Awards, has won four Canadian Screen Awards, and was named one of Playback Magazine's "Ten to Watch" in 2010. Matt is enthusiastic about family, television, politics, science, music, brunch, basketball, and people who are enthusiastic about anything.
