Frank Grillo Confirms Role in Mma Drama 'Warrior' Spin-Off Series
Image
Get ready to return to the octagon, as Frank Grillo has confirmed his return for the upcoming Warrior spin-off series. Directed by Gavin O'Connor, Warrior still stands as the greatest mixed martial arts movie ever made, despite several recent attempts. Starring Tom Hardy, Edgerton, and Nick Nolte, Warrior follows two estranged brothers, who are both fighting for the cash prize in a prestigious Mma tournament. What sounds like a cheesy set-up turns out to be a moving story about family and addiction, with some incredible fight scenes.

The Warrior spin-off series was confirmed way back in 2021, with writer/director Gavin O'Connor returning to helm the show. UFC legend Daniel Cormier is confirmed to star in the series, alongside Gina Rodriguez. Fans are still waiting to hear if Tom Hardy and/or Joel Edgerton will return for the show, but one of its other main cast members has confirmed his place ring side.

Norco

Mark Romanek is in final negotiations to direct Norco, a thriller based on a script by Adair Cole…The pic is inspired by the true story of the 1980 Corona, CA bank robbery where five robbers were heavily armed with assault rifles, shotguns and pipe bombs when they stormed a Security Pacific Bank branch. The subsequent shootout and high speed chase — a 20-plus-mile running gun battle with one helicopter shot down — was the most violent in American history, and was the first step in today’s militarization of police forces. Mark Romanek in Negotiations to Direct Bank-Robbery Thriller Norco
With today's news that MadRiver Pictures has acquired Adair Cole's Norco script, we're also hearing that Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) is in final negotiations to direct. The thriller is based on the true story of a 1980 bank robbery and manhunt that rocked North Corona, California. MadRiver’s Marc Butan had this to say about the picture and the addition of Romanek: “Adair wrote a script that tells this story with a raw, almost matter-of-fact intensity that it makes you feel like you are there. Adding Mark to the mix brings it all home, as he is one of the few filmmakers out there who provides the visual style this piece calls for but also gets the performances from actors." [caption id="attachment_252709" align="alignright" width="360"] Image via Fox Searchlight/caption] Getting the tone of this one correct is going to be a tricky balance since it could easily swing too far one way and glorify the criminals,...

MadRiver lines up ‘Norco’ heist thriller
Marc Butan’s new company is in final talks with Mark Romanek to direct the film based on the 1980 California bank robbery and manhunt.

MadRiver Pictures will finance and produce Norco based on Adair Cole’s screenplay about the violent event that led to a shootout and high-speed chase in which more than 30 police cars and a police helicopter were destroyed.

Butan and Mason Novick will produce the story about the robbery in North Corona that is said to have changed law enforcement and led to what has become the increased militarisation of the police force. Edward Fee serves as executive producer.

“Adair wrote a script that tells this story with a raw, almost matter-of-fact intensity that it makes you feel like you are there,” said Butan.

“Adding Mark to the mix brings it all home, as he is one of the few filmmakers out there who provides the visual style this piece calls for but also...

Watch: 1-Hour Doc About The 1980 Norco Bank Robbery; Mark Romanek To Direct Movie Based On The True Story
It has been five years since Mark Romanek's last feature, "Never Let Me Go." In the interim, he's been busy making TV pilots and high profile music videos (Jay Z's "Picasso Baby" and Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off"), and has been attached to helm a prequel to "The Shining." But hopefully, a new venture distracts him from that bad idea. Mad River pictures revealed today that Romanek will helm the action flick "Norco." Penned by Adair Cole, the film tells the true story of a brazen and violent bank robbery in North Corona, California in 1980. Five men armed with rifles, shotguns and pipe bombs were behind the operation, resulting in a 25-mile car chase, the death of one sherrif's deputy, injuries to nine more officers, and damage to numerous police vehicles and a helicopter.  But as of yet, there's no details as to when this project might shoot.
