Scot Ruggles was born in a quaint suburb of Boston, MA . Scot's father, Sandy was a teacher and head coach of two highly successful sport programs at the local high school, football and ice hockey. Scot and his sister, Mary would be on the sideline every Friday night during the fall cheering on their father and the teams he led to numerous championships. It was during this time that Scot saw first-hand the power and results of teamwork, commitment and discipline. His love of football and the life-lessons it teaches was born during this time and shaped his life and character.

Scot joined the Marshall University coaching staff in Huntington, WV where he helped lead the 'Herd' to a bowl game victory and an AP Top 20 finish. Scot's dreams were coming true and his career was going as well as he'd hoped for...or so he thought. During the off-season, his head coach asked him to do a commercial for a local hospital that was partnered with the university. Scot had never given acting a thought but went ahead with the assignment with the same enthusiasm as game day. During the shoot Scot realized something, he loved it. After the shoot it was clear to him that this experience was something he enjoyed and was good at but put those considerations on the back burner as the busy schedule and responsibilities of a collegiate coach came calling.

Scot's coaching career continued to progress accepting positions at both the professional and collegiate levels. When he found himself back home in Massachusetts at Harvard University, fate came calling again. Dunkin' Donuts had a local casting call for a football coach to play alongside All-Pro Superbowl Champion Richard Seymour. With no experience other than a local commercial under his belt, he went to the audition with the mindset that he'd been acting his entire life. With nothing to lose, Scot gave it his all and was selected. He could barely believe it. While on set he had never felt more alive, he had tapped into something that was challenging the plans he'd made for his life. The acting bug had bitten, and it wasn't done...

Two months after the commercial, Scot received a call from a Boston casting company asking him to come in and improv for a part. Again, he went in with the same attitude and lessons he learned on the football field and gave it his best. Not thinking his chances were too high given his experience, he left and headed home. While in the car, the casting director called and asked if he'd be available within the hour to audition for the director. While waiting for his audition, Scot asked another actor who was waiting, "What movie is this for?" It was none other than the highly acclaimed film, The Departed and behind the door was director Martin Scorsese. Scot met with Mr. Scorsese and completed his audition. Although he eventually didn't get the part, he now knew he had to make a decision. He couldn't hide anymore from the fact that acting was something more than an interest. It was a passion that had now risen and exceeded his love for coaching. As Harvard's football season was beginning to ramp up, he knew this was the time to make that great call. To take a risk and follow his dream. He followed his heart, packed his car and set out for Los Angeles.

After arriving in Los Angeles, Scot threw himself into developing his acting skills and began to appear in national TV shows and commercials. Recently, Scot has appeared in CBS' S.W.A.T. opposite Shemar Moore, AMC's NOS4A2 and co-starred in the film Sunny Daze with Jason Wiles and Michael Beach. True to his character, Scot continues to mentor and lead young student-athletes at UCLA as the Director of Football Relations. In addition to his busy schedule, he currently has multiple projects in development to produce, one being with Sony Pictures.
