Twin Basketball Stars Haley & Hanna Cavinder Strut On ‘Si’ Swimsuit Show Runway
Image
The Cavinder twins, known for their basketball skills at the University of Miami, are expanding their brand beyond the court. On Saturday, Haley and Hanna Cavinder, both 23, walked in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show at the W South Beach, part of Miami Swim Week.

Wearing blue and orange bikinis, a nod to their alma mater’s colors, the twins shared the runway with models like Jena Sims, golfer Brooks Koepka‘s wife. Their appearance comes less than two months after they announced their return to Miami’s women’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season.

The runway stint marks another strategic move for the Cavinders, who have adeptly navigated the new Name, Image and Likeness (Nil) rules that allow them to make money as college athletes. Last June, they reportedly earned $2 million from such deals, positioning themselves as savvy entrepreneurs in the burgeoning world of college athlete endorsements.

Brooks Koepka’s Wife, Jena Sims, Called Out For ‘Inappropriate’ Outfits At The Ryder Cup
Image
Jena Sims, wife to Brooks Koepka, a professional golfer in the Liv league, caught social media’s attention when she showed off her revealing outfits at The Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup, the biennial men’s golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States, takes place from September 29 to October 1. Teams are comprised of more than 24 players, plus team captains. The competition is not just known for the ferocity between the nation and continent, but also between the spouses of the players on the two teams.

As the many players’ spouses make their way to Italy to cheer on the USA, Sims has appointed herself responsible for providing the content of the weekend.

Sims already made a name for herself at the PGA Championship. At the tournament, held by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America in May, Koepka won his fifth major title. Sims was not in attendance,...

Starring such familiar faces as Todd Bridges (Different Strokes), Jena Sims (Kill the Messenger), Brian Sutherland (Z Nation), and Marilyn Ghigliotti (Clerks), Thursday the 12th follows two failed film school graduates closing in on their 30’s, the fearful Seth Franco and the unreliable James Rogen, who are stuck working the same jobs they had in high school. Pass Horror Notes: ‘Tales of Frankenstein’ Review
Tales Of Frankenstein

Name: Tales of Frankenstein

Age: 2018

Appearance: Nostalgic tribute to all things Frankenstein, Universal and Hammer. Based on Mary Shelley’s creation, Tales of Frankenstein explores the fates of Dr Frankies’ descendants over the course of four stories in which we get film noir, body swapping, a crawling severed arm, a vampire and a comedy gorilla.

Fun with Frankie!

I don’t recall A Modern Prometheus featuring a gorilla…

There was never a gorilla in the classic novel. However, there is a comedy gorilla (aka a man in a suit) in an amusing film noir segment about a detective who finds himself trapped in the laboratory with the...

Production wraps on ‘Tales of Frankenstein’
Production has just wrapped in Los Angeles on the horror film Tales of Frankenstein, starring Game of Death’s Mel Novak and Wolverine creator Len Wein in his final film. The movie is based upon four of writer-director Donald F. Glut’s (The Empire Strikes Back novel) short stories published in his book of the same name:

“My Creation, My Beloved,” (a deformed descendant of Victor Frankenstein creates the perfect man and woman), “Crawler from the Grave,” (another Frankenstein descendant’s disembodied, plague-infected arm returns from the grave for revenge), “Madhouse of Death” (a private detective winds up in an old dark house filled with loonies…and a gorilla) and “Dr. Karnstein’s Creation,” (a mad doctor creates a monster in vampire-haunted Transylvania – with gruesomely unexpected results).

Tales of Frankenstein also stars Jerry Lacy (TV’s Dark Shadows), Ann Robinson (War of the Worlds), Beverly Washburn (Old Yeller), John Blyth Barrymore,...

’3-Headed Shark Attack’ Review
Stars: Karrueche Tran, Jason Simmons, Rob Van Dam, Danny Trejo, Jena Sims, Brad Mills, Scott Thomas Reynolds | Written by Jacob Cooney, Bill Hanstock | Directed by Christopher Olen Ray

It seems oh-so-obvious, but would you believe me if I told you that 3-Headed Shark Attack is a sequel to the 2012 film 2-Headed Shark Attack? Well it is. And both films come from Christopher Olen Ray, son of legendary (well at least in my house) B-movie director Fred Olen Ray, and director of the fantastic, and criminally over-looked, action flick Mercenaries. Ray is also one of the best director that purveyors of Syfy channel shlock, The Asylum, currently have on their roster.

Of course your enjoyment of this film depends entirely on whether or not you’re a fan of the un-ironically bad films that The Asylum – and the Syfy channel – have made their stock and trade. For me their films are...

Miles Teller in Whiplash (2014)
‘Whiplash,’ ‘St. Vincent,’ 13 More Join Crowded Specialty Box Office: Preview
Miles Teller in Whiplash (2014)
Intense music drama Whiplash, already a big winner at Sundance and the Deauville American Film Festival earlier this year, should drum up plenty of audience interest in its debut this weekend, even though it faces a crowded specialty market that also features several other notable newcomers, including the Bill Murray comedy St. Vincent, Hilary Swank‘s You’re Not You and Jeremy Renner‘s Kill the Messenger. All are what I’d call “big” specialty releases, with big names attached that should attract big attention.

The weekend also includes what I’d call some “small” releases, including documentaries The Overnighters (another Sundance winner) and I Am Ali, about the former heavyweight boxing champion, alongside the Mormon Church-backed Meet the Mormons. All will be clawing for attention in a market that’s seen more than 30 films debut in the past three weeks.

That said, Whiplash should be a real career turner...

From legendary producer Roger Corman, the director of Dinoshark, and the screenwriter of Sharktopus comes Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader, and the Epix original movie is available Now on various VOD platforms.

Kevin O’Neill directs. Former Georgia Teen USA 2007 Jena Sims stars as Cassie Stratford, an aspiring college cheerleader who consumes an experimental drug that grants her beauty and enough athletic ability to make the cheer squad. It also has a very unfortunate side effect that you should be able to ascertain from the film’s title.

Top 200 Most Anticipated Films for 2014: #100. Michael Cuesta’s Kill the Messenger
Kill the Messenger

Director: Michael Cuesta

Writer: Peter Landesman

Producers: Pamela Abdy, Naomi Despres, Jeremy Renner, Scott Stuber

U.S. Distributor: Focus Features

Cast: Jeremy Renner, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michael Sheen, Michael K. Williams, Robert Patrick, Ray Liotta, Barry Pepper, Andy Garcia, Paz Vega, Rosemarie DeWitt, Tim Blake Nelson, Oliver Platt, Jena Sims, Lucas Hedges, Richard Schiff, Yul Vazquez

We know him as the director behind indie nuggets such as L.I.E., hotel room splendor of 12 and Holding and more recently, Roadie, so after a mostly low-budget indie filmography Michael Cuesta cross over into bigger budget big leagues is due to a successful stint on Homeland. Kill the Messenger sounds like compelling material, and sports and impressive ensemble cast, and we’re banking that visually it’ll pay dividends with cinematographer Sean Bobbitt who is currently at the top of his game.

Gist: Based on the novel by Nick Schou and...

Roger Corman on 'Attack of the 50 Ft. Cheerleader,' the Benefit of Budgetary Restraints and Why the Internet's the Next Home for Indie Film
Roger Corman
Roger Corman should need no introduction. Without him, independent film in the United States would be an entirely different entity, if it would even exist at all. As a director, he was responsible for a classic series of Edgar Allan Poe adaptations in the early 1960s, among many, many others. As a producer he gave early-career breaks to some of the most storied names in American cinema: Coppola, Scorsese, Bogdanovich, Sayles, Demme. And, above all, Corman maintained a steadfast commitment to making fun, profitable pictures, of which he has made literally hundreds over the course of his career, now in its seventh decade. His latest film as a producer stars Jena Sims as aspiring college cheerleader Cassie Stratford who, you know, grows to a giant size after taking an experimental performance-enhancing drug, and premieres on Epix this Saturday, August 25th at 10pm. Indiewire caught up with Corman on a recent...

Roger Corman And His Scream Queens Talk 'Attack Of The 50 Foot Cheerleader'
Roger Corman is a Hollywood legend. The Oscar-winning producer might be the single-most prolific filmmaker ever with over 300 movies to his name. Along the way, he provided a big break to Martin Scorsese, James Cameron, Jack Nicholson and many others. His "cheap and fast" approach to sci-fi, horror and action has given us timeless cult classics like "The Little Shop of Horrors," "Death Race 2000," "Caged Heat" and "Galaxy of Terror." However, Corman is hoping to top himself yet again with his first 3D movie, "Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader." The film is about young cheerleading-hopeful Cassie Stratton (Jena Sims), who's so desperate to excel at the sport she subjects herself to a radical new drug that is supposed to increase her athletic abilities. Naturally, it all goes disastrously wrong and Cassie grows to gigantic proportions. If that wasn't bad enough, her mean girl rival, Brittany (Olivia Alexander), steals the formula,...

Roger Corman's Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader in 3D Promises to Be Epix
Roger Corman graced Syfy with a Sharktopus. For his foray into producing for the Epix network, the “King of the B’s” is busting out Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader (in 3D no less) and has assembled quite a cast for a movie about a giant cheerleader on a rampage.

Shockingly, Roger Corman did not produce the 1950’s cult classic Attack of the 50-Foot Woman or its 1990’s remake starring Daryl Hannah. He also had nothing to do with 1995’s Attack of the 60-Foot Centerfold; that was Fred Olen Ray’s homage. Now, at the ripe old age of 86 (and still kicking), Corman is finally getting a piece of the giant woman on the attack action with Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader.

Synopsis:

Aspiring college cheerleader Cassie Stratford consumes an experimental drug that grants her beauty and enough athletic ability to make the cheer squad. However, the drug has an...

Pic will be helmed by vfx artist Kevin O'Neill and will star Jena Sims, Sean Young and Treat Williams. Movie will premiere in August." The plus size lady in his latest production (and surprisingly, first 3D picture) Attack Of The 50Ft Cheerleader does, as the title suggest, get her super sized street cred in the form of her impossible height, just like Alison Hayes before her and later ,Darryl Hannah (in the dual versions of Attack Of The 50Ft Woman, respectively). Joining their skyscraper status playing mutated high schooler Cassie is young, pretty thesp Jena Sims (Dexter, Entourage), a former pageant queen turned actor who looks great crushing all manner of crap that has the misfortune of lying in her rampaging, pom pom plowing wake. Sims joins veteran actors Treat Williams, Mary Woronov and Sean Young in the campy romp.

9 Great Posters for 9 Not-So-Great Movies (That I Haven't Seen)
9 Great Posters for 9 Not-So-Great Movies (that I Haven't Seen) If you missed it, yesterday I explored 11 great posters from 11 not-so-great movies, and I promised today I would take a slightly different angle at the same idea. Yesterday's 11 posters were for films I had seen, today's collection come from nine films I have never seen and I can't take full credit for this list. After I had compiled a list of my own I reached out to a few friends and one of them provided me a Ton of suggestions, several of which I had never seen. David Frank, who used to provide content on a regular basis for me, is a big poster buff and of the nine posters here, he suggested seven of them. As for the other two, well, I'll explain below and perhaps in too much detail on one of them. This list also differs from my...

Afm 2011: Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader Artwork Stands Tall
Back in the Fifties and Sixties movies about extreme giants and shrinking or shrunken people were all the rage thanks to some nifty camera tricks. So the question now beckons: Can that same premise still find its footing with today's generation? Who cares?!? We love the retro-poster that looks as if it were ripped from the pages of an old Fifties textbook!

Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader is directed by Kevin O'Neill and stars Treat fuckin' Williams along with Jena Sims and Sean Young. Look for more hopefully sooner rather than later.

Synopsis

An aspiring college cheerleader, Cassie Stratford, consumes an experimental drug that grants her beauty and enough athletic ability to make the cheer squad. The drug has an unforeseen side effect, however - Cassie starts to grow and grow and grow.
