Suki Potier(1947-1981)
- Actress
Melanie Susan Potier, better known as Suki Potier, was an English model who modeled for many English designers and agencies, including English Boy and Ossie Clark. She had small roles in a few films such as Casino Royale (1967), Joanna (1968), Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush (1968), and Wonderwall (1968). Her archival footage was used in the documentary George Harrison: Living in the Material World (2011).
In December 1966, Potier began dating Guinness heir Tara Browne, shortly after his split with Noreen "Nicki" MacSherry. Browne and Potier went out a handful of times, but nothing about the dynamic between them suggested the affair would be anything other than short and sweet. On 18 December 1966, Potier was a passenger in his turquoise Lotus Elan when he was driving through South Kensington. Browne collided with a parked truck and died from his injuries the next day. Potier was not injured in this accident, making Browne save Potier's life. After recovering from the event, Potier began her relationship with The Rolling Stones member, Brian Jones. They dated for approximately two years, being on and off. They split in the spring of April 1969. Potier still cared for and loved Jones despite their relationship being rocky. She would attend Brian Jones funeral on 10th July 1969.
The following year, she stopped modelling.
In later life, she married Robert Ho, who was the eldest son of Macau gaming tycoon Stanley Ho. Potier and her family lived in Hong Kong. They had two daughters, Sarah and Faye Ho.
On 23 June 1981, Potier and her husband both died in a car crash while on holiday in Portugal.
