King was the "pet" lion of the Azerbaijani family of architect Lev Berberov. In Baku King and also puma lived in a residential apartment. King was known throughout the Soviet Union precisely for the fact that the Berberov family kept large predatory animals at home.
In 1973, King starred in the comedy Neveroyatnye priklyucheniya italyantsev v Rossii (1974). He was not trained, King did not follow the director's commands well, for which he paid a bad price. After filming, King attacked a man, after which a young police officer shot him.
