Dan Harris, weekend co-anchor of ABC News’ Good Morning America, said on Sunday that he would depart the network to focus on his meditation company.

Harris said on the show. that he would be leaving in two months.

“This was a difficult decision for me,” he said. “As some of you may know, I’ve been spending a lot of time on my extracurricular gig, my side hustle, a meditation company, called Ten Percent Happier. It’s been a lot to juggle and even though I’m a public proponent of work/life balance, if I’m honest, I’ve struggled to follow my own advice.”

Harris has been with ABC News for 21 years, and he called GMA “one of the highlights of my life. My colleagues, both on and off the air, have become like a family. I really do love these people, and I am going to miss them horribly.

Governor Jerry Brown has named a flurry of appointments, including United Talent Agency co-president Jay Sures to the University of California Board of Regents, the governing board of the University of California.

Sures has been co-president at UTA since 2017, where he was managing director from 1989 to 2017. He was an assistant visiting professor at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Theater, Film, and Television from 2005 to 2006.

Sures is vice chair of the University of California, Los Angeles Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Board of Directors, treasurer of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, and vice president of the United Talent Agency Charitable Foundation. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Sures is a Democrat.

The influential news agent was recently named to Mediaite’s Most Influential in News Media 2018 list and was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 2016.

Pair of south-west England based exhibitors strike deal.

Two long-running UK cinema chains have struck a deal to amalgamate their businesses.

Cornwall-based Wtw Cinemas has taken a substantial shareholding in Devon-based Scott Cinemas. The new company will continue to trade to the public as Scott Cinemas while the operational business will be renamed as Wtw-Scott Cinemas.

Founded in 1945, Wtw Cinemas operates four cinemas in Newquay, St Austell, Truro and Wadebridge.

Scott Cinemas was founded in the 1960s and now operates seven venues in Barnstaple, Bridgwater, Bristol, East Grinstead, Exmouth, Newton Abbot and Sidmouth [pictured].

As live video platforms continue to make a play for the distribution of high-profile events, ABC News announced today that it will partner with Facebook to broadcast the four general-election debates, which include three presidential debates as well as one vice presidential face-off.

While each of the ninety-minute debates will air on ABC News’ Facebook page without any advertising (they will also air on TV without commercial breaks), ABC will precede the debates with two hours of analysis from contributors Matthew Dowd, Elzie Lee ‘Lz’ Granderson, Dan Harris, and Amna Nawaz, according to Variety. On each debate day, ABC News’ Facebook page will also feature streams from viewing parties across the country, as well as from inside spin rooms (where reporters can interface with debaters and campaign reps).

On Thursday, ABC News President James Goldston announced Abrams will be returning to managing Abrams Media full-time while remaining with ABC as its chief legal analyst.

Replacing Abrams will be Byron Pitts, who’s been ABC’s chief national correspondent since 2013.

Abrams has co-anchored “Nightline” since June 2013.

Recently, Deadline served up the new,official synopsis/spoilers for the upcoming "X-Men:Apocolypse," and it sounds like things will get quite interesting from the jump, doing a 10 year timeline jump from Days Of Future Past. A new, very powerful enemy arrives, and more. The official synopsis, reads like this: "Apocalypse takes place a decade after Days of Future Past and is a seamless next step in the story. The altering of time has unleashed a new and uniquely powerful enemy. Charles (James McAvoy), Erik/Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Hank/Beast (Nicholas Hoult) are joined by young Cyclops, Storm, Jean and others as the X-Men must fight their most formidable foe yet – an ancient unrelenting force determined to cause an apocalypse unlike any in human history." Paula Faris began her first day on the job as “Gma Weekend” co-host on Saturday. She was welcomed by a very complimentary introduction from co-host Dan Harris, who called it “the dawning of the Paula Faris era.” Also read: ‘Et’ Co-Host Rob Marciano Heading to ‘Good Morning America’ (Exclusive) Then, viewers found out that the new co-hosts have had some time to bond. While appearing on Good Morning America's Halloween episode on Thursday, Oct. 31, weekend anchor Dan Harris dressed as E!'s own Ryan Seacrest while entertainment news correspondent Rachel Smith appropriately sported a costume inspired by the lovely Giuliana Rancic. The hiring of ABC News Nightline anchor Bill Weir won't have an immediate impact on Piers Morgan's 9 p.m. show.  "Bill Weir was not brought to CNN to replace Piers Morgan," a CNN spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter.  Weir, who worked at ABC News since 2007, was named Friday by the network to be the chief innovation correspondent based in New York. ABC News is continuing to reshuffle its Nightline team as one of its anchors departs for CNN.  Dan Harris, an anchor/reporter and weekend Good Morning America host, was named co-anchor of the late evening news show, ABC News president Ben Sherwood said in a statement on Friday. "Dan is one of our most versatile anchors-covering many of the biggest news stories for all of our broadcasts since he joined the network in 2000," Sherwood said in his statement. ABC News president Ben Sherwood made the announcement this morning, noting that Bill Weir gave notice that he was departing “for another opportunity in the news business.” Dan Harris, who has co-anchored the weekend edition of Good Morning America since 2010, will replace Weir as co-anchor of Nightline alongside Cynthia McFadden and Dan Abrams while continuing in his role at Gma Weekend. Weir, former sports anchor for Los Angeles’ Kabc-7, helped launch Gma Weekend in 2004 and served as co-anchor until moving to Nightline in 2010, succeeded by Harris. “Bill’s style is singular; his voice unique; and we will miss him and, yes, his turkey frying safety tips,” Sherman said.
