    • Sonia Esgueira is an award winning South African actress, writer, comedienne and voice artist best known for her roles in Jacobs Cross, Eye In The Sky, Jamillah And Aladdin, Spud 3, and most recently Diamond City.

      She is well known in theatre circles for her multi-character one woman shows which she writes and performs, most notably her "Porra" trilogy of comedy plays which are one of the longest running One Woman Shows in South Africa to critical acclaim, as well as "Love And Prozac", all of which played to sold out houses nationwide over multiple repeat runs.

      She won the Fleur du Cap Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for her role in the Maynardville production of Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Marthinus Basson. She was also nominated for a Mbokodo Award for her contribution to Arts and Culture in the field of Comedy.

      Other theatre productions she has acted in include The Comedy Of Errors, Lion In The Streets, Othello, Antigone, Madiba Magic, I Love You Lots and Lots and Chapter One.

      She played a stunt woman in the science fiction television series Charlie Jade and played various characters in the 2004 comedy sketch show Fela's TV for which she also wrote.

      Esgueira has also done voiceover work for a variety of clients including M-Net, Wonderbra, Silver Sands Casino, KFC, Adegas and Nando's.

      She received a BA Performer's Diploma in Speech and Drama from the University of Cape Town in 2000 with distinction.
