After more than four decades, the Ingalls family is venturing back to television. Production is currently underway on Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie, an adaptation of the same Laura Ingalls Wilder book series that inspired the NBC series of the same name that ran from 1974 to 1983. Netflix says the new Little House is “part family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West” and “transformed adaptation” of Wilder’s semi-autobiographical books. “The series will offer a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier,” the streamer adds. Already, producers of the new series have cast Alice Halsey as Laura, Luke Bracey as Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary, those actors filling roles originally played by Melissa Gilbert, Michael Landon, Karen Grassle, and Melissa Sue Anderson, respectively. Jocko Sims, Warren Christie, Meegwun Fairbrother, Alyssa Wapanatǎhk,...

The Ingalls family is returning to television in the form of a new Netflix series, which will reboot the classic Little House on the Prairie, which ran from 1974 to 1983. The original show chronicled the lives of the family in the 19th-century American Midwest, featuring Ma and Pa Ingalls and their three daughters, Mary, Laura, and Carrie. However, with recent casting announcements for the reboot, fans were left wondering why the role of the youngest Ingalls, Carrie, has not been cast yet.
A fan asked TVLine if Carrie Ingalls was being “retconned out of existence in Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot.” It turns out that there is a simple answer to why the part of Carrie isn’t anywhere to be found. TVLine stated that sources close to the Netflix reboot stated, “When the series opens, Carrie (played on the Og series by Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush) simply has not been born yet.

Netflix wants to get lost in a classic sci-fi adventure series from the 1970s. The streamer has closed a deal with Legendary Television for a new Land of the Lost remake.
According to Deadline, the show's original creators, Sid and Marty Krofft, as well as the latter's daughter, Deanna Krofft Pope, will produce the remake, which is in very early stages at Netflix and Legendary. A writer is currently being sought to script the series, which is once again expected to follow the Marshall family as they accidentally go through a portal and find themselves trapped in a world inhabited by dinosaurs, primate-like people named Pakuni, and reptilian humanoids called Sleestak.
The original Land of the Lost ran for three seasons and 43 episodes on NBC from September 1974 to December 1976. Despite its relatively short run, Land of the Lost became a cult classic, leading to a short-lived reboot on ABC in the early 1990s.

Netflix’s reboot of Little House on the Prairie just got even more exciting with stars from New Amsterdam and Batwoman joining the cast, as well as several other talented actors. This latest casting news comes about three weeks after the announcement of who will portray the Ingalls family in the series.
We first learned of this Little House on the Prairie reboot back in January 2025 when Netflix announced that it had officially greenlit the project. It is not a remake or continuation of the beloved television series of the same name that aired on NBC from 1974 to 1983. Instead, it's Netflix's fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s original Little House on the Prairie books.
Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for working on shows like The Boys, The Vampire Diaries and Archive 81, is signed on as showrunner and executive producer. She also writes the scripts. Additionally, Joy Gorman Wettels, Trip Friendly,...

A dark comedy crime thriller, with a solid 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes, is showing signs of success on streaming. The closing months of a year are generally not thought of as an exceptionally busy time for television, with broadcast networks going on hiatus for the holidays and streamers holding their biggest titles for the new year. 2024 may be another year that points to a shift, with several hit series debuting recently and more on the way.
Squid Game season 2 is premiering on Netflix as of December 26, making a late play to be technically one of the year's buzziest series. This is coming after Black Doves debuted in early December, very intentionally set as a holiday-themed spy saga, to acclaim from audiences and critics. Showtime's The Agency, led by Michael Fassbender, is another thriller that premiered late to a lot of attention and a quick renewal. A more low-key crime thriller may well follow that success.

As each episode of “The Sticky” declares, Prime Video’s twisted comedy series about a maple syrup heist in Canada, is definitely not accurately depicting the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist. But can you blame creators Brian Donovan and Ed Herro for hearing an event title like that and wanting to let their imaginations run wild?
Across six episodes (and it deserved eight!), “The Sticky” presents an excellent case for television taking completely wild liberties with true events. With that episodic disclaimer explicitly absolving the showrunners of misinforming viewers, they’re essentially creating an original story based on a fun idea. So what if that idea happened in real life, but differently? What if it went this way instead?
The final episode, written by Donovan and Herro and directed by Michael Dowse, sees Ruth (Margo Martindale), Mike (Chris Diamantopoulos), and Remy (Guillaume Cyr) finally follow through on their big plans,...

Indigenous horror has become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly in Canada where efforts are being made to seek out, fund, and promote First Nation stories (see also: Slash/Back and the late Jeff Barnaby’s work like Blood Quantum and Rhymes for Young Ghouls).

Aang's delightful reactions and caring nature are brought to life by Cormier, setting a promising tone for future seasons.
Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender found an excellent actor to play Aang in Gordon Cormier, who perfectly portrays Aang's bright persona down to some of his smallest mannerisms. Like the animated Nickelodeon show upon which it is based, Netflix's Avatar follows the cheerful, unlikely hero Aang, who must become the Avatar his world desperately needs and end the Fire Nation's tyrannical rule. Being able to portray a beloved character is always a challenge, especially one that was written for another medium. However, this is something that most of the new cast members manage well enough.

Avatar: The Last Airbender ended Aang’s story after the defeat of Fire Lord Ozai, but now fans might finally have a chance to see the Gaang as adults. Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dimartino, the original creators of Avatar, have announced the launch of Avatar Studios, which will expand the franchise with more movies and television shows. This could include a new Avatar show exploring adult Aang's adventures. So far, Aang’s adult life has only been glimpsed in a few flashback scenes during Legend of Korra. The comics have also continued Aang’s story, but only in the years immediately following the end of the series. Even in his few minutes of screen time, Aang as a fully realized Avatar battling with bloodbender Yakone was a sight to behold, leaving fans clamoring for more.

Netflix's upcoming adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is already showing it will fix a major mistake from M. Night Shyamalan's first live-action adaptation by including Aang's past Avatars. In 2010, Shyamalan released his adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon TV show to diminishing returns and poor reception from fans and critics alike. While there were plenty of issues with the film, one of the biggest shortcomings from fans of the original show was the film's lack of fidelity to the animated series, with the film completely omitting large chunks of the mythology and lore created.
With the announcement of the full extended cast list Netflix's The Last Airbender season 1, comes the reassurance that the newest live-action adaptation will fix this mistake, more specifically by including the past Avatars before its titular character Aang. In the original series, the Avatar can bend all four elements and has existed throughout time through a reincarnation cycle,...
