SAG Awards 2021: The Full List of Nominees
Da 5 Bloods: Frères de sang (2020)
The nominees for the 2021 SAG Awards were announced Thursday morning via Instagram Live, and you can find the full list of nominees below.

Five different films landed three nominations each, including “Da 5 Bloods,” “Minari,” “The Father,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” Those were also four of the five nominees for Best Ensemble, with “One Night in Miami” taking the place of “The Father” in the final field of five.

In the TV categories, “Schitt’s Creek” and “The Crown” each led in Comedy and Drama categories respectively, with each show picking up five nominations a piece. That’s in large part because the shows’ casts virtually swept the nominees, with three separate women being nominated for “The Crown” in the Supporting Role category (the other two in that category were held by “Ozark”).

“Better Call Saul,” “Bridgerton,” “The Crown,” “Lovecraft Country” and “Ozark” earned Best Ensemble nominations for Drama,...

Mid-January it was announced that the ceremony will air on TNT and TBS April 4 beginning at 9 p.m.

‘Billions’ Star Asia Kate Dillon Calls for SAG Awards to Abolish Gender-Specific Categories (Exclusive)
Image
“Billions” star Asia Kate Dillon, the first gender nonbinary performer to play a nonbinary character on a major TV show, made headlines in 2017 when they asked the TV Academy to clarify its gender distinctions. Dillon has since then entered in the supporting actor category, and has been nominated as best supporting actor in a drama series at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Dillon was recently asked to take part in the SAG Awards’ motion picture nominating committee, but in an open letter to SAG-afrta’s SAG Awards committee members JoBeth Williams, Daryl Anderson, Jason George, Elizabeth McLaughlin and Woody Schultz, Dillon said they’d first like to see the kudos do away with gender-specific categories. (Variety has reached out to a SAG Awards spokesperson for a response.) Here’s Dillon’s letter:

Dear JoBeth, Daryl, Jason, Elizabeth, and Woody:

I hope you are all safe, and healthy.

SAG-AFTRA Panel Warns Industry To Stop Ignoring Law Protecting Child Actors From Predators
Exclusive: The former La Deputy City Attorney who prosecuted dozens of casting directors in a sweep of bogus actors’ workshops said tonight that industry professionals who violate an oft-ignored law to protect child actors from registered sex offenders could soon be the subjects of a similar undercover operation and prosecution.

The Child Performer Protection Act, which became law nearly six years ago, requires most professionals who work with child actors – including publicists, managers, and acting coaches – to obtain a permit, pass an FBI background check, and register with a California state database to screen out pedophiles.

A Deadline investigation in April, however, found that not a single Hollywood publicist who represents child actors had obtained a permit. Dozens of managers, acting coaches, and photographers who work with child stars had also failed to comply with the law, which is punishable by a year in county jail and a $10,000 fine. And yet,...

Et confirms that this will be the first time that the ceremony will have only females presenting 13 of the categories.
