- Rajesh was born on April 15, 1935 in Bangalore, Kingdom of Mysore, British India. He was an actor, known for Purana Purush (1978), Anand (1986) and Suvarnabhoomi (1969). He died on February 19, 2022 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
- Karnatak University bestowed on him an honorary doctorate in 2012.
- In 2014 he was awarded the Dr. Rajkumar Cultural Endowment Award by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
- He founded the Shakti Nataka Mandali theater company.
- The first play that he wrote & directed 'Nirudyogi Baalu' was very successful. His follow up play 'Badavana Baalu' was also very successful. This led to be cast in a string of plays by major Indian theater directors.
- His daughter, Asharani, son-in-law Arjun Sarja and granddaughter Aishwarya Sarja are all actors.
