Politics and actors have always had a deep-rooted connection, so it is hardly surprising that irrespective of his or her political affiliation, an actor does not let an opportunity to essay the role of a popular leader pass by. Especially if the subject is the former Prime Minister late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Directed by Ravi Jadhav, ‘Main Atal Hoon’ is a biographical drama that follows the life and political career of Vajpayee, a beloved mass leader who was not only a politician, but also a poet, a gentleman, and as the film suggests, “a statesman”.

Highlighting Vajpayee’s role in shepherding India during some of its most challenging times, including the Kargil War with Pakistan and the Pokhran nuclear tests, the 137-minute film attempts to explore the man behind the politician, revealing his personal struggles and relationships with family and friends, as well as his love for poetry and literature.

Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who will be seen portraying Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the upcoming biopic ‘Main Atal Hoon’, on Monday was spotted at the Siddhivinayak Temple, as he celebrated the 99th birth anniversary of the late Prime Minister.

Pankaj was accompanied by the director of the movie Ravi Jadhav, producer Sandeep Singh and other team members of the movie.

The ‘Omg 2’ actor wore a white kurta and dhoti, and carried a red cloth around his neck.

Celebrating the 99th birth anniversary of Vajpayee, the makers have also dropped the first song titled ‘Desh Phele.’

The song takes you into the world of Vajpayee, a poet who rewrote history. Sung by Jubin Nautiyal, the heart-touching lyrics are penned by Manoj Muntashir and composed by Payal Dev.

Ghoomer is a very odd title for a film about a one-handed female bowler who learns the hard way to beat the odds. Like all of R. Balki’s unconventional yet mainstream films , this gem of a film moves at its own volition.

Outwardly Ghoomer looks like yet another rise-and-shine sports drama about a karma-traumatized cricketer and a burnt-out cricket coach who lives with his trans-gender adopted sister in a cottage in the wilderness . The location is a significant detail . It is here, far away from the deafening crowd that the emotionally gutted Anina (her name can be spelt forward and backward: a significant detail considering how determinedly she moves forward after life flings her backward) regains her mojo.

The makers of Abhay Verma and Meera Chopra-starrer ‘Safed’ unveiled the teaser of the social drama on Thursday.

It showcases the victims of social oppression, and how the lead duo find solace, and redemption in each other, melting away their lonely existence.

Abhay, who is known for his work in ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Uljhe Hue’ is seen as ‘Chaandi’, while Meera Chopra, who has appeared in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films, and is known for projects like ‘Bangaram’, ‘Lee’, ‘Vaana’, ‘1920 London’ and ‘Section 375’ among others, is portraying the character of ‘Kaali’.

The film is a love story between a transgender (Chaandi) and a widow (Kaali).

Actor Pankaj Tripathi on Saturday announced the wrap up of the final schedule of the much-awaited film ‘Main Atal Hoon’.

Helmed by National Award-winning director Ravi Jadhav, ‘Main Atal Hoon’ features Pankaj as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the three-time Prime Minister of India.

During the Lucknow shooting schedule, the film’s makers met the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and discussed the film at length.

The film wrapped up its final schedule in Mumbai on Saturday. The film is shot in 45 days across locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur and Lucknow promises to take the viewers through Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s childhood and extraordinary political journey.

I am very glad that there is so much being done for women in sport now. At this point, even if my involvement is in a small way, I believe every drop in the ocean counts.”

Filmmaker R. Balki has talked about casting actress Shreya Dhanwanthary in his upcoming psychological thriller film ‘Chup’, starring Dulquer Salmaan.

Shreya is well-known for her Amazon Prime Video web series ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Scam 1992’.

“Shreya is a volcanic talent. I had seen her perform in ‘Scam 1992’ and ‘The Family Man’ and was hugely impressed.”
