‘Gunslingers’ Review: A Posse Seeks Stephen Dorff’s Neck in High-Body-Count Western
Image
Edwin S. Porter’s 1903 “The Great Train Robbery” is widely regarded as one of the first major narrative films — using a then-advanced clutch of techniques to tell a real, almost epic (at 12 minutes) story rather than simply to record a vignette. It also helped solidify the Western as a form specially suited to this new medium, even if it was shot in New York and New Jersey.

Telling a tale that begins that same year, Brian Skiba’s new “Gunslingers” is another “eastern Western,” shot in Kentucky. Now baptized and reborn, Thomas grapples with fresh challenges, testing his newfound peace amidst a town steeped in secrets, violence, and a relentless quest for revenge.”

The film is set in the fictional Kentucky town of Redemption.

Blood Moon Rising Returns to DVD
Blood Moon Rising played at several film festivals before being released on DVD November 11, 2009. However, problems with the audio have forced a re-release through E1 Entertainment. A second release date has not been announced but fans of zombies, vampires, werewolves and more will get at least a small taste from these different genres, as can be seen in this original grindhouse-esque horror trailer. Check out the synopsis for this film that blends many elements together, including comedy, to create something original, but bizarre.

Only during an eclipsed blood moon can they see each other’s human forms renewing their love.
