The Lost Princess Review: Morocco’s Mystical Heart
Image
The Lost Princess begins not with an action sequence or a dramatic monologue, but with a spiritual quest that dissolves the barrier between worlds. The film introduces Alec Touati, an American billionaire whose search for meaning leads him to an Ayahuasca ritual.

The resulting vision, a hallucinatory flash of a forgotten battle, propels him toward an old, haunted castle in Morocco. This sets the stage for a story that melds genres, feeling at once like a historical drama, a supernatural romance, and a mystical exploration of self. The sun-soaked Moroccan landscapes and the ancient castle walls become active participants in the narrative.

They hold the secrets of a past timeline involving Princess Nour, a woman caught in an arranged marriage, and her forbidden love for a charismatic pianist. Alec’s journey is to uncover how these echoes of the past are intertwined with his own destiny, creating a premise that...

Strange New Worlds Season 3 Episode 5 Reminds Us Of A Legendary Horror Story
Image

Spoilers for "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" to follow.

The main characters of "Star Trek" are explorers above all else, and sometimes, exploration is about investigating the past. That's exactly what happens in "Strange New Worlds" season 3, episode 5, "Through the Lens of Time."

In an earlier season 3 episode, "Wedding Bell Blues," we met Christine Chapel's (Jess Bush) new boyfriend Dr. Roger Korby (Cillian O'Sullivan). We know from "Star Trek: The Original Series" — specifically the episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" — that Chapel and Korby will get engaged, but it'll fall through when he goes missing on an archaeological dig.

"Through the Lens of Time" shows Korby in action as an archaeologist. He and a small away team, including Spock (Ethan Peck), LA'an (Christina Chong), Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), and Beto Ortegas (Mynor Luken), discover what appears to be...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3's Spookiest Episode Borrows From Two Sci-Fi Horror Classics
Image
Set phasers to spoilers. This article discusses major events from the latest episode of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds."

If the creative team behind "Strange New Worlds" are trying to convince us that "Star Trek" can support any possible combination of genres and tones, season 3 is already proving to be a brilliant case study. In the span of only five episodes, we've seen an action thriller with the Gorn, a romantic fantasy drama (emphasis on fantasy) featuring Spock (Ethan Peck) and Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush), a self-contained zombie invasion, and a whimsical throwback to the aesthetics of "The Original Series" wrapped in a murder-mystery plot. Now, the show's writers have just unleashed what might go down as the most ambitious hour yet in all of "Strange New Worlds," and it takes a page (or two) out of a pair of under-appreciated horror touchstones.

Yes, "Star Trek" is once again voyaging...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Actor Dreams of Commander Riker Role in Tng Reboot
Image
Star Trek: Strange New Worldsguest star Cillian O'Sullivan's dream role would be a main character in a Star Trek: The Next Generation reboot. O'Sullivan plays Dr. Roger Korby, the new love interest of Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Korby is also a legacy character who takes a villainous turn in Star Trek: The Original Series.

In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant's John Orquiola about playing Dr. Roger Korby in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Cillian O'Sullivan described himself as a "massive" Star Trek fan who grew up loving Star Trek: The Next Generation. Noting that he didn't expect to play Korby in Star Trek until it happened, O'Sullivan revealed who from Tng would be his dream role. Read Cillian's quote below:

Cillian O'Sullivan: "Maybe, and maybe this would be a tragedy if they did, but if they ever remade Star Trek: The Next Generation,...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Remakes A Tng Episode With A Much Darker Twist
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

This post contains spoilers for season 3 of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds."

"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" is not shy about lifting heavily from past "Star Trek" episodes. The series basically remade the classic episode "Balance of Terror" twice during its first season, first spiritually in "Memento Mori" and then literally in the season 1 finale "A Quality of Mercy."

"Hegemony," the two part episode that closed "Strange New Worlds" season 2 and opened season 3, had a cliffhanger and resolution that echoed the famous "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Best of Both Worlds." For the latest "Strange New Worlds" outing, "Through the Lens of Time," the series pulls from a less beloved "Tng" episode.

"Through the Lens of Time" guest stars Dr. Roger Korby (Cillian O'Sullivan), archaeologist and boyfriend of Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush). The Enterprise is assisting Korby...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Finally Has A Terrifying New Villain To Call Its Own
Image
In the "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" episode "Through the Lens of Time," Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush) and her new boyfriend Roger Korby (Cillian O'Sullivan) have discovered an impossibly ancient temple hidden beneath the rocks of a distant world. The technology in the temple is still active after countless unhallowed centuries, and it requires a drop of blood to enter. Everything is scary and mysterious. Inside, the crew of the Enterprise find a series of glowing orbs that contain ... something. They also find that they can pass through unusual stone passageways and step into different planes of existence. The six crew members are all in the same room, but they can't see one another because they are out of phase. It's like a haunted house or an abandoned asylum.

When the ship's new nurse Ensign Gamble (Chris Myers) picks up one of the mysterious orbs, it explodes in his hand.

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Bosses Talk New Big Bad & Batel Surviving Gorn ‘at a Great Cost’
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Episode 5 “Through the Lens of Time.”] The Gorn may be off the board — for now, at least, as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds executive producer Henry Alonso Myers is quick to note, “The Gorn aren’t out of the way, you’re going to see them again” — but there’s already a new Big Bad. In the latest episode, a landing party of Chapel (Jess Bush), La’an (Christina Chong), Spock (Ethan Peck), Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Beto (Mynor Luken), and Ensign Gamble join Korby (Cillian O’Sullivan) on a planet only to end up in what they, only later, realize is a layered dimensional prison — and one of the prisoners injures and infects Gamble (destroying his eyes). Held inside is an evil, known as the Vezda, and it does eventually leave Gamble’s body (he’s already dead) after Pelia (Carol Kane) shoots it.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Spock and LA'an's Romance Shocked The Actors
Image
Warning: Spoilers For Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3Star Trek: Strange New Worldsseason 3's new couple even shocked actors Ethan Peck and Christina Chong. As Lieutenants Spock and LA'an Noonien-Singh, respectively, Peck and Chong had different romantic partners in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2. This changed in season 3 when LA'an and Spock grew closer after becoming intimate dance partners.

Speaking to Variety at San Diego Comic-Con alongside their Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast mates Rebecca Romijn, Jess Bush, and Paul Wesley, along with executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, Ethan Peck and Christina Chong related their mutual shock upon learning Spock and LA'an's friendship would turn romantic.

Christina Chong understandably expected LA'an's attraction to Paul Wesley's Lt. James T. Kirk would evolve, while Peck explained why Spock and LA'an "makes a lot of sense on some level." Read their quotes and watch the video below:

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds paid tribute to Dawn of the Dead star Ken Foree in zombie episode
Ken Foree in X-Files : Aux frontières du réel (1993)
Ken Foree plays an unforgettable role in one of the great movies ever made, the George A. Romero classic Dawn of the Dead (get it Here) – so it’s nice to hear (as reported by our friends at Bloody Disgusting) that the makers of the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds decided to pay tribute to Foree in their recent, unexpected zombie episode! In the third episode of Strange New Worlds‘ third season, the crew of the starship Enterprise ventured to a planet that was overrun by zombie-like creatures – and this planet was called Kenfori! The Ken Foree reference even made it into the title of the episode: Shuttle to Kenfori.

Word of the tribute quickly made its way to Ken Foree himself, who posted on social media, “I know this is out there, but I wanted to share this with you as well. It’s an honor and...

Cillian O'Sullivan Praises Jess Bush's Generosity In His Star Trek Audition

Cillian O'Sullivan praises Jess Bush's talent and generosity for helping him book the role of Dr. Roger Korby in Star Trek: Strange New Worldsseason 3. O'Sullivan debuted as Korby in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, episode 2, "Wedding Bell Blues," and Roger, being Nurse Christine Chapel's new boyfriend, was an unpleasant surprise to her former flame, Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck).

Speaking exclusively to ScreenRant, Cillian O'Sullivan described his audition for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which was a chemistry read with Jess Bush over Zoom. O'Sullivan effusively praises Jess Bush for being "very generous" in his audition, noting that "she gave me everything that she could" in the difficult circumstances of doing a chemistry read over Zoom. Strange New Worlds Season 3's New Romantic Subplot Had To Happen Thanks To Star Trek Canon
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" season 3, episode 4, "A Space Adventure Hour."

As of "A Space Adventure Hour," Spock (Ethan Peck) and LA'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) are the newest power couple on the Enterprise. As the two hottest members of the Enterprise bridge crew, it is only logical that they hook up.

Joking aside, this pairing actually does make sense, and there's been build-up if you look back to past episodes. Both Spock and LA'an are repressed people who hold their emotions close to their chest. LA'an's song back in the musical episode "Subspace Rhapsody" was called "How Would That Feel?", and was all about her imagining what it would be like to open up to people. She's now doing it with someone who's shared a similar struggle.

Back in season 1's "Memento Mori," they shared a mind meld. LA'an has to confront an evil from...

Paramount+ today announced that season four of its hit original series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will feature a puppet-themed episode, featuring U.S.S. ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Reveals Captain Pike as a Puppet in Comic-Con Season 4 Teaser
Image
Captain Pike has been turned into a puppet in the new teaser for the fourth season of “Star Trek: Strange New World,” which was shared with fans at San Diego Comic Con Saturday.

“Hit it,” Muppet Pike says in the new video — “hit it” being the thing he says when he wants the ship to go to warp speed — before confusedly adding, “You heard me say hit it, right? Spock? Anyone?”

“Did you go to season four without me?” he adds.

The trailer appears to hint at an upcoming episode that will feature the cast as puppets. There might have been an unexpected and terrible transporter accident,” said executive producer Akiva Goldsman at Sdcc. “Which might have had some unexpected felt-like effects.”

The puppet episode is directed by Jordan Cannings, and the puppets were created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. The series is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout...

The long-awaited third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worldsrecently premiered on Paramount+. The episode brought a close to the Season 2 finale and the fight with the Gorn.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, Episode 2, "Wedding Bell Blues," featured Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) almost marrying Spock (Ethan Peck). Speaking about future romantic pairings on the show, Bush told Out Magazine that she is open to the idea. "I would love for our show to represent queer love on screen," she said. "I think that would be wonderful."

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3: What Poem Is Spock Quoting To Nurse Chapel?
Image
In the "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" episode "Wedding Bells Blues," Spock (Ethan Peck) awakens in bed next to Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush) on the morning of their wedding. They are blissed out and happy to celebrate their nuptials, and they are eager to see all their friends dressed up at the ceremony.

This is a curious place for Spock to wake up, however, as the pair had never gotten engaged. Indeed, they recently announced that they would certainly not be pursuing a relationship, allowing Chapel to begin a relationship with a man maned Korby (Cillian O'Sullivan). As Spock will eventually learn, reality has shifted under him at the hands of a playful godlike being played by Rhys Darby. This godlike being has sensed that Spock and Chapel are into each other, and decided to use his powers to stage a wedding, erasing everyone's memories and forcing them to play-act a grand romance.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Drops The Perfect Twilight Zone Reference
Image
Spoilers for "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" to follow.

"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" sure loves to put Spock (Ethan Peck) in comedic situations. In season 1's "Spock Amok," he accidentally exchanged bodies with his fiancee T'Pring (Gia Sandhu) during a mind meld gone wrong. Then, in season 2's "Charades" (which /Film named the funniest "Star Trek" episode ever), Spock was transformed into a full-blooded human and had to relearn how to be a Vulcan.

Now, "Strange New Worlds" season 3 has unveiled its own comedic Spock adventure as part of its two-episode premiere. To do so, it's also brought back one of the campiest yet most powerful villains from "Star Trek: The Original Series."

After the hectic and suprisingly bloody nature of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" season 3 premiere, "Hegemony, Part II," the Enterprise crew can at least temporarily catch their collective breath. "Wedding Bell Blues" offers a small time skip and a welcome respite from brutality, opting to focus on character relationships -- specifically, the love triangle between Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), her new boyfriend Dr. Corby (Cillian O'Sullivan), and the lovelorn Spock (Ethan Peck). Unfortunately, the god-like alien Trelane (Rhys Darby of "Our Flag Means Death" fame) soon starts muddying the waters with his mischievous, reality-altering ways. How Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Avoids Breaking Canon With A Classic Tos Episode
Image
This article contains mild spoilers for the "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" episode "Wedding Bell Blues."

In the "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" episode "Wedding Bell Blues," Spock (Ethan Peck) finds himself growing despondent over the fact that he and Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush) may not be destined to date. Spock and Chapel spend several months apart, only for her to return with a new boyfriend, a charming scientist named Roger Korby (Cillian O'Sullivan). Spock is as heartbroken as a Vulcan can be.

There is a reception in a bar thereafter, and Spock finds himself feeling jealousy watching Chapel and Korby together. He walks over to the bartender (Rhys Darby), who notices his pain. The bartender gives him a strong cocktail, and Spock retires to his quarters. When he wakes up, reality has shifted. Chapel in his bed with him, smiling happily. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Bosses Confirm the Status of a Classic Original Series Character with Latest Episode
Image
This article contains spoilers for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, Episode 2, titled "Wedding Bell Blues."

Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worldsmay have started with the thrilling conclusion of the cliffhanger that closed out the second season of the Paramount+ series. But the second episode, “Wedding Bell Blues,” shifted gears entirely and, in the process, made an old-school Trek character’s headcanon status actual Star Trek canon.

In “Wedding Bell Blues,” things go awry when Spock (Ethan Peck) wishes that things were different between him and Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush) when she returns to the Enterprise after a three-month fellowship with a new boyfriend. Spock’s wish becomes a reality when a mysterious and sharply-dressed new character, played by Rhys Darby, grants his wish, and he wakes up about to be married to Nurse Chapel.

Strange New Worlds season 3 episode 2 recap: Spock’s getting married!?
Image
“Greetings and Felicitations!”

I couldn’t help but think of that while watching the second episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, season 3. Of course, that quote comes from the original Star Trek episode, “The Squire of Gothos,” but Snw’s “Wedding Bell Blues” was clearly taking inspiration from that episode.

It also takes inspiration from another trickster god of Star Trek in this superpowered wedding episode.

“Wedding Bell Blues” recap

“Wedding Bell Blues” opens three months after the events of “Hegemony, Parts I & II,” and Spock is eagerly awaiting (as much as Vulcans allow themselves to be eager) the return of Christine Chapel from her fellowship working with Dr. Roger Corby. When Chapel beams aboard, she is accompanied by Dr. Corby (Cillian O’Sullivan), with whom Chapel has started a relationship.

After Mr. Spock pouts a bit, a mysterious bartender offers him a drink. Suddenly, Spock awakens in bed with...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Episode 2 Is A Prequel To Two Classic Tos Adventures
Image
"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" is a more direct prequel to the original show than "Star Trek: Enterprise." Set less than a decade before "The Original Series," "Strange New Worlds" follows the U.S.S. Enterprise, captained by Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), who has some familiar faces already on the crew: Spock (Ethan Peck), Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), and now Scotty (Martin Quinn).

"Strange New Worlds" is unafraid to call back (forward?) to classic "Original Series" episodes, even if the show still sticks (mostly) to "Trek" canon. For example, the show has brought back the reptilian Gorn as recurring villains, setting up Captain Kirk's (William Shatner) famous clash with a Gorn in the 1967 "Original Series" episode "Arena," and Lieutenant LA'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) is a descendant of the most infamous "Star Trek" villain, Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalbán).

The two-episode premiere of "Strange New...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3's Big Villain Reveal Was 'Borrowed' From Fan Canon [Exclusive]
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" season 3, episode 2, "Wedding Bell Blues."

"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" season 3, episode 2 ("Wedding Bell Blues") brings back "The Original Series" character Trelane ("Our Flag Means Death" star Rhys Darby) from "Tos" season 1 episode "The Squire of Gothos." Originally played by William Campbell, Trelane presents himself as a dashing man who wears a Regency-era tailcoat and claims to be a general. In actuality, he's a mischievous child from a reality-bending alien species, and wields powers that resemble those of the time and energy-manipulating residents of the Q Continuum -- such as the notorious "Star Trek: The Next Generation" wild card, Q (John de Lancie).

In "Wedding Bell Blues," Trelane exhibits the same powerful but immature traits. He imposes himself on the lovelorn Spock like a roguish genie, force-rebooting the science officer's recently-ended romance with Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) into an impending...

One Fan-Favorite Star Trek Character Will Have More Screentime In Strange New Worlds Season 3
Image
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few ... until they don't. "Star Trek" has always wrestled with this moral quandary, dating back to Leonard Nimoy's first appearance as Spock in "The Original Series." Yet, even Gene Roddenberry himself couldn't have anticipated just how prescient this debate would become as the franchise continually grew and expanded over the long decades. Practically every series has been made up of an ensemble of characters, all of whom are rich and layered enough to demand entire episodes and arcs revolving around themselves. Of course, this was a much easier proposition in a previous era of syndicated television, when networks routinely ordered seasons amounting to upwards of 20 episodes each. Nowadays, at a time when streaming mandates and soaring budgets result in far less runway to tell the same space-bound stories, well, viewers are robbed of the ability to truly get to...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Episodes 1 “Hegemony Part II” and 2 “Wedding Bell Blues.”] The good news: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is just as fun as ever. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3's Big Cameo Confirms A Decades-Old Fan Theory About A Classic Villain
Image
This article contains spoilers for the "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" episode "Wedding Bell Blues."

The theory goes back to September 28, 1987, when the first episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" -- called "Encounter at Farpoint" -- aired. That episode featured an all-powerful space deity named Q (John De Lancie) who stopped the U.S.S. Enterprise-d dead in its tracks to explain that humanity had no business being in space. Using his magical powers, Q put humanity on trial, using Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) as its representative. The Enterprise would only be allowed to continue its trek through the stars if it could solve the mystery of Farpoint Station, the place they were heading in the first place.

The impishness of Q and his magically manifested courtroom immediately reminded old-school Trekkies of the original "Star Trek" episode "The Squire of Gothos." In that episode, The U.S.S. Enterprise...

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Team Explains Bringing in Rhys Darby as [Spoiler]

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Episode 2 “Wedding Bell Blues.”] Star Trek: Strange New Worlds not only just brought in a character from The Original Series, but it also confirmed a theory from the novel Q-Squared. Over the first two episodes of Season 3, Chapel (Jess Bush) told Spock (Ethan Peck) not to wait for her while she went off on her fellowship, only to return with a new boyfriend, Korby (Cillian O’Sullivan). But thanks to a wish granted by a mysterious bartender (Rhys Darby), Spock found himself preparing to marry Chapel … until Korby snapped him out of it and the two worked together to stop the bartender/wedding planner. In the end, it took that being’s father, voiced by John de Lancie, to put an end to his trickster ways, and the two went on their ways in balls of light. Spock’s love life is about to get complicated in Strange New Worlds season 3
Image
Fans of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds are in for some unique romantic twists for Spock in season 3!

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has expertly threaded the needle of making a prequel to a classic TV show work. Set a decade before the original Star Trek, it's a great showcase for classic Trek storytelling as Christopher Pike commands the Enterprise.

The show has even pulled off the challenge of casting new actors in the roles of iconic characters such as Spock (Ethan Peck) and Christine Chapel (Jess Bush). As fans of the original series know, Chapel carried a torch for the Vulcan who, of course, couldn't answer her feelings. Strange New Worlds flips it around as Spock is drawn to Chapel and the pair kiss and share their feelings in the famous musical episode. That, despite how Spock was formally engaged to T'Pring (Gia Sandhu).

However, season 3 is going to...

“A Lot of Hot People on a Ship”: ‘Strange New Worlds’ Cast Dishes on the Enterprise’s Many Romances Ahead of Season 3
Image
The romances on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds have been somewhat unexpected. The show is set before Star Trek: The Original Series, so we know that pretty much none of these relationships are "endgame," so to speak. In a way, that gives Strange New Worlds the freedom to have a little fun with love stories that are doomed, angsty, non-traditional, and/or casual. That's how we ended up with the delightfully complex LA'an Noonian-Singh (Christina Chong) — yes, that Noonian-Singh — and an alternate universe James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley).

And, most importantly for fans of Star Trek: The Original Series, there's the love triangle between Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) and Spock (Ethan Peck) and T'Pring (Gia Sandhu)! At the Tribeca Film Festival's premiere event for the long-awaited Strange New Worlds Season 3, the cast and crew dished about some of those love stories and what it means to make them in the Trek-verse.

The highly anticipated Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 premieres July 17 on Paramount+ after a two-year wait.
