On a bright June morning in Nashville’s 12 South neighborhood, the Mavericks frontman comes cruising up the driveway of a hilltop coffeeshop on a Vespa scooter. He’s smiling broadly, with a green shirt unbuttoned to his chest to reveal a large medallion that’s as eye-catching as his arrival.

Titled “Adam Schlesinger, A Music Celebration, Virtual Show,” the stream will be primarily recorded at New York’s Bowery Electric and go out May 5 at 8 p.m. Et on the Rolling Live platform, with a ticket price of $20 that will benefit MusiCares and the closed host venue itself.

Sad news today as it has been recently announced that the award-winning singer-songwriter Adam Schlesinger, best known for his work with Us rock band Fountains of Wayne, has reportedly died at the age of 52 after being diagnosed with coronavirus. He passed away on Wednesday morning.

A recent statement from his family on Tuesday said that the singer was currently in a New York hospital fighting the illness caused by coronavirus, Covid-19, the same illness that is currently affecting the world at large.

Schlesinger grew up in Manhattan and Montclair, New Jersey. He attended Montclair High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College in philosophy. Adam Schlesinger's lawyer, Josh Grier, confirmed the musician's death and stated that Schlesinger had been hospitalized in March and whilst there had tested positive for the illness. Following this, he had been placed on a ventilator and was under heavy sedation.

Joe Diffie has fallen off the love wagon, unable to resist the pull of an addictive relationship. “I can crush it out, pour it down the drain, give up my vices, curse your name,” he sings, rattling off a number of defenses that, in the end, can’t convince him to quit the one he loves.

Lera Lynn has a classic quandary on her hands at the moment: she can’t actually perform her latest album while she’s on tour. Plays Well With Others, released in June, paired Lynn with a wide assortment of duet partners, including John Paul White (who produced the album at his studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama), Nicole Atkins, Rodney Crowell and more. In 2007, after returning to the music scene with the full E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen released the critically- and commercially-adored album, “Magic.” A fierce and cutting portrait of American disillusionment from track to track, the music marked a high point for the legendary rocker’s resurgent post-9/11 work, but it also signified the politically-progressive singer’s most pessimistic take on a society he’s been writing about — and representing — since the late ’60s.

Then, just two years later, the insightful artist released an album that could very well be his most hopeful ever, certainly since his return to prominence. While infectiously enthusiastic and admirably experimental, “Land of Hope and Dreams” was a significant step down in caliber compared to “Magic.” But it was what reflected our mass perspective in 2009, and more than that, it was what we needed to hear.

On Tuesday (February 15), organizers announced the lineup for the 2011 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, set for June 9-12 in Manchester, Tennessee. And, boy, it's going to be interesting to hear the purists' take on this year's bill.

Unlike earlier, decidedly crunchy editions of the fest, the 2011 lineup is topped by two of the hugest hip-hop acts in the business — Eminem and Lil Wayne — along with newly crowned Grammy champs Arcade Fire and the Black Keys. Other acts on the bill include Mumford & Sons, the Strokes, the Decemberists, Florence and the Machine, Big Boi, Wiz Khalifa and Robyn.

Of course, there are still some nods to Bonnaroo's roots: Fest vets Widespread Panic return once again, as do My Morning Jacket and the String Cheese Incident.

The third part of Nicole Atkins' vignettes From "Mondo Amore," features the dark beauty burying secrets at a crossroads. What's in the silver box? What price will she pay for this Faustian bargain? Where can I get one of those cloaks? Some questions remain unanswered, but you may find enlightenment on the album, out tomorrow on Razor & Tie.
