Batman can easily be one of the most iconic figures in the DC universe. With his dark and mysterious personality, he has one of the largest and most loyal fandoms in the superhero genre. While his popularity has remained the same, what has kept changing is his logo.
That’s right – it looks like every few months the Dark Knight gets a new makeover, and it seems DC is not stopping anytime soon. So, let’s dive into what’s new and why DC just can’t seem to settle on one version of the Caped Crusader’s logo.
Another day, another Batman logo
Batman is heading into a new era – and yes, with a brand-new logo. That’s right – his new look will make its debut in Batman #1 this September. This new design comes as part of a larger revamp led by writer Matt Fraction and artist Jorge Jimenez,...

DC fans are counting down the days till Batman returns to the big screen. As of now, The Batman: Part II in 2027 is the earliest that can happen. That film recently got delayed to the heartbreak of many, but James Gunn's Dcu is about to make a major splash with Superman this summer. This shared universe will have its own version of The Caped Crusader. McFarlane Toys has been trying to fill the Batman-void until the character returns to theaters with their wide variety of DC figures. Now, their latest Batman pieces are ready to take to the streets of Gotham.
The first of these new Batman figures is a part of McFarlane's DC Multiverse line. This GameStop-exclusive seven-inch Red Platinum Edition figure is based on “The Cowardly Lot” comic storyline from writer James Tyion IV and artist Jorge Jiménez that was found in the pages of Batman. The...

Batman is an elite fighter, nearly unrivaled detective, and genius. He’s helped prevent the destruction of the DC Universe dozens of times and will continue to do so until he can’t anymore. And considering he's been doing that since 1939, that says a lot about our dear Dark Knight.
That's right, the Caped Crusader has been doing this for nearly a whole century, with a legacy that is second-to-none. He's widely regarded as the most iconic superhero of all time (along with fellow DC legend Superman) and continues to entertain audiences around the world today as the superhero genre remains more popular than ever.
Despite everything he’s accomplished, there are things that people will say about him that aren’t true. Whether they are things that have gotten misconstrued over the years or things that never were, some people just get the DC hero all wrong. So let...

DC Comics knows where its bread is buttered. As much as we, the comic book readers, enjoy stories from many characters, a company has to stay aware of their money makers. In DC's case, it’s the World’s Greatest Detective, Batman.
Over the last decade, a lot of writers have done a fantastic job on Batman. James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children), Tom King (Wonder Woman), Joshua Williamson (Green Arrow), and Chip Zdarsky (Sex Criminals) have all created memorable stories starring the Dark Knight. With them have come artists like Jorge Molina (A-Force) and Mikel Janín (Detective Comics) who have helped bring the tales to life. Now, a new team steps forward to take on that challenge, as legendary writer Matt Fraction and returning Batman artist Jorge Jiménez are collaborating on Batman No. 1.

DC Comics has announced a new ongoing Batman series, and the creative team is sure to generate a lot of excitement.
Starting this September, Matt Fraction will be taking over writing duties for Batman #1, with Jorge Jiménez on art. This will mark only the fourth renumbering for DC’s Batman comic book series in the 85-year history of the title, and will introduce a new blue and gray costume, a redesigned Batmobile, and a new aesthetic for Gotham City.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Batman. It was the first comic I ever read,” said Fraction. “Jorge and I have a very superhero-forward kind of take on Batman. We’ve got a new Batmobile, we’ve got a new costume, we’ve got new characters, and we’ve got a lot of old ones too—good and bad; all the stuff that makes Batman the coolest character in comics.

James Gunn has been slow on updates for his Batman project in the Dcu. This is understandable, given that the focus is currently on the first of the Dcu off the ground: Superman. However, DC has probably put a gem in place for James Gunn to take advantage of, which might just get Brave and the Bold off the ground.

Hawkeye writer Matt Fraction, who is also known for his work with Iron Man, Future Foundation, and Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen, will be heading part of the new creative team on Batman over at DC, along with artist Jorge Jiménez. James Gunn has a great opportunity here to have the writer come aboard the Dcu barge to get the franchise’s Batman film off the ground.

Apart from walking through a heartwarming drama, Netflix's The Secret of the River features several memorable performances from its talented cast members. Set in Mexico, The Secret of the River is a relatively obscure 8-part series on Netflix that has garnered optimistic reviews from both viewers and critics. It has not only been praised for its grounded and emotional storytelling but also for its portrayal of a marginalized community.
In its 8-episode runtime, The Secret of the River presents a narrative that dabbles with themes surrounding self-acceptance, identity, and the resilience of the human spirit. While the character beats in the show are well-written, the noteworthy performances of almost all cast members in the series make the characters relatable and realistic. Until now, Homelander has been the only one to mimic Captain America’s righteous star-spangled banner routine, although in a diabolically psychopathic light. However, with the coming of a new age, it seems that Batman is also getting in on the game. DC is finally going toe-to-toe with Captain America himself with their own version: Commander Star.

Harley Quinn's past as a villainous murderer is being acknowledged by both Batman and DC. Despite being on the Justice League, Harley Quinn has killed innocent people, which is being highlighted. DC is forcing Harley Quinn to confront her dark past as a criminal, despite her recent hero persona.
Few characters have had more explosive popularity than Harley Quinn. She went from the sidekick to one of comic book's greatest serial killers — to somehow ending up in the Justice League. A lot of people have pointed out over the years how this doesn't make sense due to her crimes, and now both Zur-En-Arrh — the Dark Batman — and DC are calling her out for her crimes.
Now that Zur-En-Arrh is Batman, he's begun rounding up criminals from all around Gotham, and that includes Harley Quinn — as depicted in a scene from Batman #146 by Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez.

Save for one condition, Batman is too pure and goodhearted to fully become a villain — at least, that's what readers always assumed.

The Crown Prince of Gotham is one of the most enigmatic characters in comic book history. Joker is the literal personification of the limit to which the human psyche can be corrupted; however, fans have long theorized about a secret Joker superpower that made him so unique.
This superpower was recently made canonical in Batman #145 by Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez. In the comic, it is revealed that Daniel Captio, the mentor of Batman, also trained Joker in the same mental techniques, unlocking his superhuman power.

As the latest Bat-Family conflict unfurls on the streets of Gotham, something fans have long suspected now stands irrefutably affirmed: Tim Drake, the third Robin, is the Bat-Family's best fighter. Despite DC's apparent hesitancy to grant this well-deserved recognition, this fact has been repeatedly underscored by Tim's role in the DC Universe, with the latest testament to Tim's prowess emerging in the midst of the Bat-Family's devastating Gotham War.

Batman has finally admitted that he resents his own Bat-Family, viewing them as criminals and acknowledging that they make him weaker. The Joker has always believed that the Bat-Family holds Batman back and has targeted and killed its members in an attempt to free Batman from them. Despite Batman's belief that his family makes him strong, the corrupting influence of Zur-En-Arrh has caused him to no longer see them as his own, aligning with the Joker's perspective.
Over the years Batman has assembled the Bat-Family to help him fight crime, but the Joker feels that this has diluted the idea of Batman, that, by opening himself up to a family, Batman has made himself weaker. While Batman initially rejected this idea, claiming that his family made him strong, it seems that now, years later, Batman is finally admitting that the Joker was right.

Batman's backup persona, the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, is becoming more prominent in Bruce Wayne's mind, hinting at a potential major change for the character. Bruce's neglect of self-care has allowed Zur-En-Arrh to flourish, and the persona is actively pushing Bruce to his limits. Batman's recent erratic behavior and the upcoming cover suggest that Zur-En-Arrh may make a move to take control of Bruce's body, potentially locking away the real Batman persona. Fans will find out in Batman #141.
A haunting artwork hints that Batman's insidious alternate persona isn't going anywhere. The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh takes center stage on an upcoming cover, suggesting he may become a much bigger part of the Dark Knight's mythos.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Batman and Robin #1 and Batman #137! DC's darkest fall to villainy yet might be just around the corner thanks to Batman's failure to contain the Zur-En-Arrh personality. There are countless heroes in the DC Universe, and they don't always stay on the side of the righteous. Batman has typically remained a true hero — at least in main continuity — but all of that might be about to change because of Bruce Wayne's strange new sleeping habits.
Batman is famous for having contingency plans against anything that could happen to him. No matter what enemy he goes up against, be they friend or foe, Batman has a plan to take them down. This absurd sense of planning has even extended to himself. Not only does Batman have multiple contingency plans to deal with himself if he ever goes rogue, but he also has an entire backup personality that he's created.

The Black Demon, a sci-fi thriller about a family encountering a dangerous shark, was filmed in the Dominican Republic, not in Mexico, where the story takes place. The production used various locations in the country. Some scenes of the movie had to be filmed in a studio due to the involvement of a fictional Megalodon. Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios provided a large water tank for filming intense ocean sequences. The water tank at Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios has been used for other movies like The Lost City, Old, and 47 Meters Down. It offers a practical alternative to filming in the open ocean.
The Black Demon jumps on the Megalodon hype train and depicts the story of a family encountering one of the gigantic dangerous sharks while visiting an oil rig in Baja California, a state in Mexico. However, the 2023 science fiction thriller movie was not filmed in the same location where it took place.

After the trainwreck that was Cocaine Shark and with the spectre of Jurassic Shark 3: Seavenge looming over me, The Black Demon, or any other shark film for that matter, may not have been an obvious choice. But this one caught my attention when it was announced and the idea of a finned fear film with enough of a budget to give it some bite was hard to say no to.
Paul Sturges is the safety officer for Nixon Oil, a corporate name that does not exactly inspire confidence. He has been sent to Baja to inspect one of the company’s rigs and has brought his family along. He may have to work but his wife Ines, daughter, Audrey, and son Tommy can have a vacation.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Batman #135!The ending of the 1989 Batman movie has been completely undone thanks to the resurrection of the Joker. A new Dark Knight villain has given the world of Batman '89 one of its most fearsome foes back thanks to their experiments with the multiverse.
In Batman #135 by Chip Zdarsky, Mikel Janín, Mike Hawthorne, and Jorge Jiménez, Darwin Halliday, aka the Red Mask and a Joker variant, is going forward with a plan to break his mind and become his world's Joker. But Halliday breaks a different way when he realizes his destiny isn't to become the Joker but to create them.
Red Mask evades Batman by throwing himself into a portal that takes Halliday across the multiverse. Bruce is kicked into the portal by a variant of Catwoman, and while Batman doesn't have the material that can take him to his own universe, he can still follow Red Mask.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Batman #135!The most famous Batman variants of all time just received a disturbing upgrade after Bruce Wayne's latest adventure. The Dark Knights from across the multiverse now all have their own version of Batman's brutal and dangerous backup personality.
In Batman #135 by Chip Zdarsky, Mikel Janín, Mike Hawthorne, and Jorge Jiménez, Bruce is determined to stop Red Mask, aka Darwin Halliday, a variant of the Joker. Halliday attempts to fracture his mind so that he can become his world's Joker, but he discovers that he can only create Jokers, not become one himself. Halliday ventures out into the multiverse and begins traveling to other worlds, creating new Jokers or resurrecting dead ones.
Batman follows Red Mask from Earth to Earth, noting how twisted each new Joker Halliday creates is. The two have their final confrontation in an empty universe before Batman is rescued by Robin Tim Drake.

Plot: When a leaky oil rig awakens a vengeful god in the form of a megalodon shark, an oil man is trapped on the rig with his family and the surviving workers.
Review: There are a whole lot of shark thrillers out there, but not many of them have a supernatural edge. That makes director Adrian Grunberg’s The Black Demon stand out from the pack a bit, because while the shark in this thriller is described as being a megalodon, like the sharks in The Meg and Shark Attack 3 and probably plenty of others, this isn’t just a megalodon that has resurfaced from the prehistoric age. This movie, which has marketing material that informs that it’s “based on the Mexican legend”, presents us with a giant shark that is actually a vengeful god, awakened by the pollution that has been spilled in its waters, and is able...

The legend of El Demonio Negro, or The Black Demon, brings a mythical, almost supernatural, quality to this latest shark attack horror feature. Director Adrian Grünberg (Rambo: The Last Blood), working from a script by Boise Esquerra and Carlos Cisco, dials in on the folkloric aspect of The Black Demon to wield the horror as a cautionary entry in eco-horror rather than a conventional shark attack feature. Fresh mythology struggles to keep these shark infested waters afloat, however.

"Sometimes you have to go south... to find home." Gravitas has revealed a trailer for an indie comedy titled Gringa, from filmmakers Marny Eng & E.J. Foerster - both were also working as second unit directors in Hollywood. The film recently premiered at the 2023 Cinequest Film Festival just last month, and will be out on VOD in just a few weeks. A troubled teenage girl runs away to Mexico after her mother passes away, to find the father that she has never known. She discovers him there, penniless, where they learn that a family can be put back together, even if all they have are the missing pieces. Steve Zahn plays the missing father, who seems to be a careless old surfer living right on the beach, coaching soccer for a job. Jess Gabor co-stars as Marge, joined by Roselyn Sanchez, Judy Greer, Valentina Buzzurro, & Jorge A. Jimenez. This looks a bit cheesy,...
