Prince has been posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The induction took place on Saturday, July 27th at a 40th anniversary screening of Prince’s Purple Rain at the Target Center in his native Minneapolis. His induction marks the second time the Songwriters Hall of Fame has awarded an artist posthumously after inducting the late Cindy Walker in April.

Prince was inducted by Gilbert Davidson, a longtime colleague of the musician, who then bestowed the award to Prince’s sister, Sharon Nelson. “You will always remember his songs,” Nelson told the crowd. “This is the award he wanted more than any other in life — to be known as a great songwriter.”

When Prince died of fentanyl overdose in 2016, it was a sad day for his fans everywhere. The musician was beloved for his charisma, voice and songwriting style.

However, his death might have caused more problems than one, because, since he died without a will and his six siblings and half-sibling inherited the estate equally, they have been locked in a never-ending war that’s sadly outlasted some of them.

Alfred Jackson, one of Prince’s six surviving siblings, has died, Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Jackson was 66.

“Hi…this morning my older beloved brother Alfred passed on,” Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson posted on Facebook via Star Tribune. “Thank u for respecting our privacy at this time & 4 being so nice 2 him.”

Jackson, Prince’s older half-brother, died at his home in Kansas City, Missouri, according to TMZ, who first reported the news. The cause of death has not been released, but police told TMZ that they believe he died of natural causes.

Crystal Blanchette, the personal chef to Prince before his death, said she saw warning signs in the musician’s behavior and tried to warn those close to him at the time.

“There was a change in his moods. Irritable, annoyed, uncomfortable, tired. I felt like I was watching him kind of fade away,” Blanchette said in a new clip from an interview with “20/20.”

The episode, set to air on ABC Friday, will see ABC News Correspondent Bob Woodruff investigate the crisis caused by the proliferation of synthetic opioid fentanyl. Prince died in April 2016 of an accidental fentanyl overdose.

“I had saw someone that I just knew I couldn’t have in my life anymore, and I couldn’t protect him,” she said. “I did share with other people what was happening, and they just chose to ignore it.”

Fentanyl, the super-potent opioid, has emerged as the most dangerous new drug in a generation. For many, it wasn’t a household term until Prince died suddenly in April 2016 after taking the drug. But over the past decade, fentanyl was also a factor in the fatal overdoses of several other rock & roll artists and, last November, rising rapper Lil Peep died at 21 after taking a combination of fentanyl and Xanax. In a letter dated Tuesday, Carver County District Court Judge Kevin Eide denied a request from three of Prince’s heirs to reconsider the artist’s estate’s recent agreement with Tidal, which was approved by the court in May. Attorneys for heirs Sharon Nelson, Norrine Nelson and John R. Nelson submitted a heavily redacted request earlier this month that, according to a response letter from the estate, requested reconsideration of that agreement on the basis of news reports that alleged Tidal had falsified its streaming numbers.

Included in the deal is a week’s exclusive streaming rights for an album of unreleased material that will be co-curated by Jay-z and is scheduled for release next year; the agreement also settled “previously unresolved legal matters” between the estate and Tidal, which had been ongoing in the wake of the confused state of the artist’s business affairs after his death...

In a letter dated Wednesday, an attorney for Prince’s estate called a request by three of the late artist’s heirs for a reconsideration of its recent agreement with Tidal, which would include a week’s exclusive streaming rights to an album of unreleased material, “meritless” and asked that it be denied.

A judge has denied a request from Prince’s siblings, who are the heirs of his estate, to move the contents of the late music icon’s vault away from Hollywood due to the ongoing Southern California wildfires.

In court documents obtained by The Blast, Comerica Bank & Trust, the representatives of Prince’s estate, opposed the proposed move because they feel the Iron Mountain facility that houses the vault, which includes archives of unreleased music, is far enough from the fires and not in immediate danger.

Prince‘s six siblings were officially declared the heirs of his estate on Friday by a Minnesota judge.

Judge Kevin Eide made the decision based on the fact that the music icon died without a will and that his sister, Tyka Nelson, and his five half-siblings are his rightful heirs, according to CBS News.

In a statement to People, his siblings said, “We are thrilled and relieved that Judge Eide granted our request to be the official heirs of our brother’s estate. Our ultimate goal is to remain a united front and honor his legacy together as a family and for his fans globally.

Claims from two more alleged heirs vying for Prince’s estimated $250 million estate have been dismissed.

According to court documents obtained by People, Judge Kevin W. Eide ordered that “Brianna Nelson and are excluded as heirs” of the late icon’s estate.

In previous legal filings, Brianna claimed to be the daughter of Prince’s reported half-brother Duane Nelson Sr., who died in 2011. Duane Sr. also had a son, Duane Jr., who died in 2005 and left behind a daughter, Victoria.
