Though Wild Cards is confirmed to be getting two more seasons in Canada, it is still unsure whether the future seasons will air stateside. Considering the show's critical performance, with the first season boasting a hugely impressive 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, its future on The CW may still be looking bright. Unfortunately, since the network has yet to make an announcement, U.S.-based fans should be cautiously optimistic.

Tubi’s ‘The Amityville Curse’ Is the Franchise’s 2nd Remake [The Amityville IP]
Image
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.

Asked to name an Amityville remake, the natural response is the “all abs, all the time” Ryan Reynolds 2005 remake. What folks may not know is that there is *technically* another option: director Éric Tessier’s Tubi original, The Amityville Curse (2023) which is a Canadian remake of another Canadian Amityville film of the same name from 1990.

You can revisit my editorial on the Og film from <gulp> two years ago, but the premise of both films is nearly identical. Each follows a group of College students who purchase a house for dirt cheap under the pretense of fixing it up. At the time, I wasn’t super enthusiastic about Tom Berry’s 1990 cash grab sequel, if only because it was one of the first...

Magneto Admits an Incredibly Powerful X-Men Villain Is His Daughter
Image
Magneto's children are typically thought of as Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Polaris, but his latest solo-series reveals he has another daughter named Irae, Queen of Wrath. Elena Perez, aka Irae, gained her powers after witnessing one of Magneto's rageful attacks as a child. She has the ability to spark rage in others and is one of the strongest villains the X-Men have faced. Magneto inadvertently created a psychic connection with Irae when he awakened her mutation, making their bond stronger. Despite not being biologically related, Magneto considers her his daughter.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Magneto vol 4. #1-4 When X-Men fans think of Magneto’s children, they assuredly jump to the likes of Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Polaris, as those are easily the most prevalent in Marvel Comics canon. However, as revealed in his latest solo-series, Magneto actually has another child, one who just revealed herself to be a powerful X-Men villain.

The Amityville Curse trailer: Hans Holzer adaptation is now on Tubi
Image
There’s another Amityville movie to watch! And this one actually has some connection to the early days of the franchise. These days it seems like every indie filmmaker in the world has made something with Amityville in the title, but the new film The Amityville Curse is based on the novel of the same title, which was written by Hans Holzer. Holzer was a parapsychologist who invested the supposedly haunted house in Amityville in the ’70s and went on to write the books Murder in Amityville (which served as a source of inspiration for Amityville II: The Possession), The Secret of Amityville, and yes, The Amityville Curse. The new adaptation of Holzer’s work has been released through the Tubi streaming service as a Tubi Original – and you can check out the trailer for it in the embed above.

This is actually the second movie to be called The Amityville Curse.

‘The Amityville Curse (2023)’ Review
Image
Stars: Jenny Raven, Dillon Casey, Vanessa Smythe, Mercedes Morris, Tommie-Amber Pirie, Michael Xavier, Kenny Wong, Brendan Fehr, Ennis Esmer | Written by Dennis Heaton | Directed by Eric Tessier

The Amityville Curse seemed to bear a couple of its own curses. It’s an Amityville knockoff and after Amityville Cult, Amityville Thanksgiving, Amityville in the Hood, and so many more, it’s pretty much a guarantee of mediocrity. Secondly, it’s a Tubi Original, which usually carries a very similar guarantee.

But there were a couple of reasons to be hopeful as well. Director Éric Tessier may not be well known outside of Quebec but his adaptions of two of Patrick Senécal’s novels, 5150 Elm’s Way and more importantly, Sur le Seuil aka Evil Words, are both excellent. Dennis Heaton wrote the film, based on the novel by the late Hans Holzer. Heaton you may recall wrote the Billy Connolly zom-com Fido.

Jordin Sparks Wants Chris Brown To Compete On DWTS
Image
Eliminated Dancing With The Stars season 31 contestant, platinum recording artist, and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has some suggestions for who should compete on the reality competition show next, and one of them is her "No Air" collaborator and controversial singer Chris Brown. After their Halloween Night tango to "Oogie Boogie's Song" from The Nightmare Before Christmas and their participation in the group dance, Jordin and her partner Brandon Armstrong were second to last on the leaderboard in eighth place. They then found themselves in the bottom two with fellow competitors Heidi D'Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev. DWTS judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli saved Jordin and Brandon. However, Carrie Ann Inaba voted to save Heidi and Artem, along with Len Goodman. As head judge, Len's vote counts twice, so Jordin and Brandon were sent home.

In an interview with Page Six after her elimination, Jordin said that she would love...
