Finally, a reason for sugarboo to levitate. Dua Lipa will no longer have to prove that she did not rip off L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer’s 1979 disco song “Wiggle and Giggle All Night” when she and others wrote the monster hit “Levitating.”

U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla dismissed their suit in a Manhattan court on Thursday. The judge ruled in a written statement, reviewed by Rolling Stone, that Lipa’s song did not bear enough similarity to “Wiggle and Giggle” for a trial.

Spectrum debuts Audience Reach Optimizer for advertisers

Charter Communications, through its Spectrum Reach business, has launched a new tool for advertisers that aims to boost the effectiveness and efficiency of their campaigns.

The tool, called the Audience Reach Optimizer (Aro), is designed to ensure that an advertiser or brand’s campaign messaging reaches their intended TV audience by utilizing Spectrum Reach’s unique data insights to better target TV viewers at the household level.

Aro uses a number of features that differentiate it from other ad planning products, including unique insights from traditional TV services and Spectrum’s own video apps. That combination allows Aro users to have the most-relevant and valuable information for their campaigns, Charter posits.

The use of those data points is done in a privacy-mindful way, and Charter says the Aro allows advertisers and brands to deliver their spots and campaigns...

Robert Rippberger Rebrands 1200-Acre North Carolina Studio Lot With New Partners (Exclusive)

Veteran director and producer Robert Rippberger has rebranded Ascent Studios in North Carolina as White Lightning Studios, with new investment partners.

Rippberger’s new investors for the rebrand include former National Football League star Jason Brown, who currently runs the food relief non-profit First Fruit Farms and has land contiguous with the film complex. The new film campus and its soundstages is set to cover in all around 1200 acres of land.

Rippberger’s rebranded venture also has backing and investment from North Carolina-originated producer and actress Kelly Lynn Reiter (Deadlock, Laws of Man, The Cut), and Roger Goff as general counsel.

White Lightning Studios has already lined up its first feature, A Good Fight, a heartfelt comedy written by Pierce Gardner and to be directed by Rippberger. The saga of Geralt of Rivia is coming to an end.

Netflix announced Wednesday that it has ordered a fifth — and final — season of The Witcher. The streamer also noted that season four, which will see Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, has begun production. The final two seasons will film back to back.

“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. The new trailer for season three of Netflix’s The Witcher is giving off heavy “you’re going to miss him when he’s gone” vibes. The official trailer for the upcoming season features Henry Cavill in full-on Geralt of Rivia mode, which makes fans not only anxious for the third season to premiere but also sad that it’s going to be Cavill’s last as Geralt.

Update, 4:30 Pm: Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Season 3 of The Witcher, in which Henry Cavill prepares to say goodbye to his Geralt character. In the trailer, a sword-wielding Geralt battles monsters, men and anything else that gets in his way.

The Witcher season 3 is being split into two parts, with the five episodes of part 1 coming on June 29. The next half of the season will come on July 27, with three additional episodes.

‘Last Chance U’ Coach Resigns After German Player Reports ‘Hitler’ Text Exchange

Jason Brown, the head football coach of the Independence Community College Raiders who was profiled on Season 3 of Netflix’s “Last Chance U,” has resigned after a German player reported a text-message exchange in which Brown referred to himself as “your new Hitler figure.”

According to the Montgomery County Chronicle, Brown texted redshirt freshman player Alexandros Alexiou, who is from Germany, the following: “410pm on field u German f—. u have 17 points toward your 25 points … u got an extra point for not hanging the lion poster as instructed I’m your new Hitler figure out your life.”

In his resignation letter, Brown slammed the Montgomery County Chronicle and said it “would be nearly impossible” for him to remain at the school, which is located in Independence, Kansas.
