Kitty Laing Stepping Down as United Agents’ Head of Comedy Over Israel Reposts
Image
Kitty Laing will step down as head of comedy at United Agents after an investigation into social media reposts and shares highly critical of Israel. She will, however, remain with the U.K. talent agency to represent her clients.

“Following the statements made earlier this week, it has been agreed that Kitty Laing will step away from her leadership roles as head of comedy and as a member of the executive committee of United Agents, effective immediately. Kitty will continue to work with her clients and the team at United Agents,” the talent agency said in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

United Agents on Oct. 24 opened an investigation into Laing, one of its senior agents, after she shared posts on X, formerly Twitter, that were highly critical of Israel as it mounts a campaign in Gaza against Hamas after the deadly Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in southern Israel.

TV viewers in the U.K. will once again get the chance to see actors Michelle Asante and Zawe Ashton in their respective supporting roles on the second series broadcasts of ITV's Monroe and BBC's Case Histories for the upcoming television season. Asante reprises her role on medical drama Monroe as medical assistant Kitty Kelly, alongside lead actor James Nesbitt. It's been described by some as the British version of U.S. series House, MD, but fans of Monroe would likely beg to differ. Adapted from Kate Atkinson’s novels, Case Histories is a Ruby Film and Television production for BBC One through BBC Scotland. Ashton's humorous turn as secretary...

TV Review: Monroe, 1.1
The “maverick doctor” is a staple of television, with the contemporary benchmark being Fox’s House; a series ITV1′s new medical drama won’t escape lazy comparison to. But neurosurgeon Gabriel Monroe (James Nesbitt) isn’t a grouchy Holmesian genius — he’s an egomaniac with a better bedside manner, and a repertoire of great lines like “you’re taking a knife to someone’s head; the only difference between you and a psychopath is good A-levels.”

Nothing about Monroe’s premise is exactly fresh and original, but it’s a good example of classic ideas, elevated by Nesbitt’s magnetic performance, an intelligent script from Peter Bowker (Blackpool), and slick direction by Paul McGuigan (the filmmaker behind Gangster No1 who’s carving a niche for himself on UK drama between this and BBC1′s Sherlock.) McGuigan brings plenty of stylish tricks to the party; flashy scene transitions, staccato camera...
