Biography

    • Phillips is a screenwriter, producer and director based in Wellington, New Zealand. She holds a Master's degree in Scriptwriting from Victoria University of Wellington. She has won multiple international awards for both writing and directing short films.

      Phillips is also a stage and screen actress whose feature film credits include a lead role in Alex Galvin's "Eternity" and roles in two Sir Peter Jackson films ("The Lovely Bones" and "The Frighteners"). She has played lead roles in several television series including being part of the core cast of the comedy series "Girl vs Boy" (series 3 - 2014), produced by Emmy Award winning KHF Media, as a deranged high school headmistress. She has most recently appeared in Isaac Lee's feature '1978' which she also co-directs.

      She wrote and played the lead roles in the films "Letter for Hope" and "Utu Pihikete" which both screened at several US film festivals and which garnered awards at the Indie Fest, Best Shorts, Sunset Film Festival, and Accolades film competitions.

      She has received Best Actress nominations at the Madrid International Film Festival and Short Film Awards, New York (SOFIES).

      Phillips played real-life character "Mary King" in the drama "Passion in Paradise" directed by Bryan Bruce which won a Silver Medal at the New York Festivals International Film and TV Awards.

      She was a member of the women's comedy troupe "Hens Teeth", recipient of the Chapman Tripp Theatre Award for Best Female Comedy 1996.

      In addition to acting, Phillips is also a professional and recorded singer and an acclaimed and award-winning scriptwriter for theatre and film. Her stage shows have been produced throughout Australasia and the United Kingdom.

      Her production company, Godiva Productions Limited, is involved in both theatre and movie projects.
