CBS’ New Medical Drama Dethrones ‘Tracker’ For Most Viewers
Image
Tracker has been leading for the past two years with every new ratings list of top broadcast programs. The Justin Hartley-led series hit the ground running when it premiered in 2023 and continued to grow between episodes and seasons. That is no longer the case with the latest CBS ratings revealing that Watson has amassed more viewers in 35 days than Tracker. 18.7 million viewers watched the Watson series premiere episode after the AFC Championship game on Sunday, January 26. Meanwhile, Tracker's best episode peaked at 18 million viewers. While there is a significant gap between the shows, it remains to be seen whether Watson will keep up or improve on the numbers and emerge as television's top series in the 2024-2025 season.

Starring Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson, the show "takes place six months after the death of the titular character’s friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty.

‘Watson,’ CBS’ Modern-Day Twist on Sherlock Holmes, Opens MIPCOM
Image
Morris Chestnut’s new CBS Studios’ series, Watson, a fast-paced medical drama inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s much-adapted stories of detective Sherlock Holmes, premiered on Sunday at the Marché International des Programmes de Communication (MIPCOM) in Cannes, France.

“One of the things that excited me most about the show is that it’s a fresh take on the mythology,” Chestnut said of his new series.

The new drama kicked off the international television market MIPCOM with a world premiere of the story told from Dr. John Watson’s perspective and “through a medical rather than a criminal lense,” noted Chestnut. “But it still pays great respects to the Sherlock Holmes stories.”

Chestnut plays Watson, Holmes’ iconic sidekick, who, in the new show’s telling, resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic treating rare disorders after the death of his friend and partner. But he soon...

‘Dynasty’ Will End With Season 5 On the CW
Image
There will be no Season 6 for the CW’s Dynasty. The CW has opted not to renew the reboot of the iconic 1980s soap, and it will end with the current fifth season.

Dynasty was considered among the most vulnerable CW series to snag a renewal. It was the victim of disappointing ratings and its previous renewals, along with 4400, had been motivated by the money the series generates for CBS Studios through the show’s Netflix deal.

Dynasty hails from Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, CBS Studios and Fake Empire. Schwartz and Savage teamed with Revenge writer-producer Sallie Patrick and the original series’ creators, husband-and-wife duo Esther Shapiro & Richard Shapiro, for a new modern-day reboot of the classic Aaron Spelling-produced ABC series.

Co-written by Schwartz & Savage and Patrick, Dynasty stars Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Daniella Alonso as Cristal Carrington, Elaine Hendrix as Alexis Carrington Colby,...

The Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll alum is joining the CW reboot of the Aaron Spelling primetime soap as the vengeful matriarch of sorts. Hendrix will be taking over the role first launched in this Dynasty by former Desperate Housewife Nicollette Sheridan and temporarily played by Elizabeth Gilles, who also portrays Fallon Carrington on the show and is a S&d&r&r vet too. Recently cast in the upcoming The Country Club feature, The Parent Trap actor will be a series regular as the perpetually scheming Alexis on Dynasty.

As one would expect from such a change on such a show as Dynasty, character arch details are scant but we are assured that Hendrix’s Alexis is...

‘Dynasty’: Daniella Alonso Upped To Series Regular In Cristal Role; Michael Michele, Sam Underwood, Adam Huber Also Promoted
We’ll be seeing more of Cristal Jennings in the third season of the CW’s Dynasty. Daniella Alonso, who joined the series in a recasting in July, has been promoted to series regular for season 3, which premieres tonight. Additionally, recurring actors Michael Michele, who plays Dominique Devereaux, Sam Underwood, who portrays Adam Carrington, and Adam Huber, who plays Liam, all will be series regulars in the new season.

Dynasty has gone through major casting changes over the past two seasons. One of the original leads, Nathalie Kelley, departed at the end of Season 1. The role of Cristal was recast with Ana Brenda Contreras, who was replaced with Alonso as the series headed into season 3. Additionally, Elizabeth Gillies recently took over the role of Alexis from Nicollette Sheridan.

The new season also gets underway with new showrunner Josh Reims, who was upped to exec producer and showrunner at the end of Season 2 after Sallie Patrick,...

Ken Kirby
Ken Kirby Joins ‘Dynasty’ In Recurring Role; Chelsea Rendon Boards ‘Shameless’
Ken Kirby
Ken Kirby is ready to jump into the soapy prime time drama of Dynasty. The Good Trouble actor is set to recur on the CW reboot of the iconic series in the role of Evan Tate, Trixie’s (Jessi Goei) older brother. And as we all know, Trixie is Fallon’s (Elizabeth Gillies) friend who died ten years ago and whose body was pulled from the lake in the season finale.

Kirby’s casting is refreshing in a time when Dynasty has seen a slew of changes in its casting during the first two seasons. The lead role of Cristal went through two changes. The first time Ana Brenda Contreras replaced original star Nathalie Kelley after the end of Season 1. And recently, Contreras was replaced by Daniella Alonso as the series headed into Season 3. In addition, Elizabeth Gillies recently took over the role of Alexis from Nicollette Sheridan. And original...

The CW President & Series Ep Address ‘Dynasty’ Exits – TCA
Ana Brenda Contreras
Updated: There have been a slew of changes on Dynasty over its first two seasons. One of the lead roles, Cristal, was recast twice — Ana Brenda Contreras replaced original star Nathalie Kelley after the end of Season 1; Contreras was recently replaced by Daniella Alonso heading into Season 3.

Additionally, Elizabeth Gillies recently took over the role of Alexis from Nicollette Sheridan. And original Dynasty showrunner Sallie Patrick exited after Season 2; she has been replaced by Josh Reims.

“Sallie wanted to go to development. She had been on the show for two years. That was a natural succession. She will continue to consult on the show,” the CW President Mark Pedowitz said during the network’s executive presentation.

As for the recastings, “we hoped (Contreras) would continue but she had personal issues we had no control over,” he said, adding “there’s no dirt to be found” in dismissing a notion that...

‘Dynasty’: Josh Reims To Succeed Co-Creator Sallie Patrick As New Showrunner For Season 3 Of the CW Series
There will be a change at the helm of the CW’s drama series Dynasty as it heads into a third season. Sallie Patrick, who developed the reboot of the classic 1980s primetime soap with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, is stepping down as showrunner, a position she has held from the start.

Veteran Josh Reims, who joined Dynasty as co-executive producer at the begging of Season 2, has been upped to exec producer and named new showrunner.

Patrick, who will remain an executive producer, has re-upped her overall deal with Dynasty producer CBS TV Studios and will focus on development.

She announced her departure from the show on Instagram last night.

‘Dynasty’ Season Finale: A Few Lingering Questions, But The Schemes Will Go On
The biggest bit of drama – will The CW renew Dynasty? – has long been resolved, with the network promising in January that the lifestyles of the scheming rich drama would return.

So last night’s season two finale could dig deep knowing that any threads need not be resolved. True, there will be changes – showrunner Sallie Patrick won’t return, and there likely will be a cast member change.

But, for now, here’s what happened to conclude season two:

Spoiler Alert: Do No Read Further If You Have Not Seen The Friday Season Two Finale

*** A romantic moment between Fallon and Liam was spoiled. As Fallon proposed to Liam during a rowboat ride, the celebratory mood was killed when she lost his family ring overboard. Dynasty: Will Alexis Carrington Be The Force That Saves It From Friday Night Doom?
Dynasty's original diva is ready to make her grand entrance.

If you thought Fallon Carrington was the "It" girl on The CW series, you clearly haven't met her mother, Alexis Carrington.

Dynasty has been picking up the pace lately with its diabolical schemes and twists, but it's still vastly underrated.

So much so that the network moved it to Friday nights!

Showrunners are hoping that the return of the iconic villain Alexis 37 years after she was made famous by the unrivaled Joan Collins will inject magic -- an electricity that will revitalize the series and attract both new and old viewers alike.

When Alexis and her big hat blow into town, she'll be played by other resident mean-girl, Nicollette Sheridan.

Sheridan is best known for her role as Edie Britt in the hit comedy/drama, Desperate Housewives.

It'll be hard to rival Collins' character, but Sheridan has boldly accepted the task.

Nearly three decades after the original Dynasty ended its nine-season run on ABC, the gates to Carrington Manor have been reopened by The CW — and things look a little different than you might remember.

As seen in Wednesday’s series premiere, Dynasty is still the story of billionaire businessman Blake Carrington (now played by Melrose Place‘s Grant Show) and his dramatic offspring, ambitious Fallon (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll‘s Elizabeth Gillies) and idealistic Steven (The Tomorrow People‘s James Mackay).

Fallon is certain that her homecoming will result in the promotion she’s been eyeing, but when she discovers...

Dynastie (1981)
How The CW’s ‘Dynasty’ Aims To Make The Sexiest, Most Progressive Primetime Soap Ever
Dynastie (1981)
[Editors Note: This post is presented in support of The CW’s new series “Dynasty,” which premieres on October 11 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on The CW.]

Dynasties evolve, and so does “Dynasty.” The popular 1980s primetime soap opera has been reinvented for the 21st century, and it may very well be the sexiest and most progressive-minded take yet on the classic serial genre.

The new “Dynasty” pushes the envelope from the beginning, when viewers see Carrington family heiress Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) receiving oral pleasure from her chauffeur (Robert Christopher Riley). The show boasts a diverse cast, makes references to other real-life dynasties (including, yes, the Trump family) and features modern storylines like the business growth of renewable energy.

“‘Dynasty’ is such an appealing title in and of itself, not even knowing about the original series,” said executive producer Sallie Patrick. “It’s a word that evokes power and legacy and a certain level of epic-ness.”

As she prepared to develop an entirely new version, Patrick watched episodes from the old series and met with creators Richard and Esther Shapiro.
