Biography

Lisa is a world-building director and filmmaker known for eliciting deep performances from actors and telling emotionally powerful stories. Her writing and directing includes two award-winning feature films and over 30 episodes of television.

Lisa's short films, particularly festival-favorite Head Stand, launched her filmmaking career, screening at premiere festivals including Cannes, Tribeca, and Telluride. She also directed feature Claire in Motion with Annie Howell which premiered at SXSW in 2016, and was praised by The LA Times as "a quietly affecting psychological mystery" and "a quiet breakthrough" by The Hollywood Reporter.

Lisa's work directing television has garnered acclaim for elevating actors' performances and her dynamic action sequences. She has worked with talents like James Spader in Blacklist and Michael Sheen in Prodigal Son. Recently Lisa directed episodes of the new action show Countdown for Amazon, starring Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane.

Lisa was raised and educated on both coasts. While earning her BA in film studies at UC Berkeley, she worked on visual effects of legendary films like Jurassic Park as an apprentice editor at Lucasfilm and absorbed experimental high-art films as a projectionist at the Pacific Film Archive. Her exposure to both classic Hollywood pictures and boundary-breaking film informs her distinct cinematic perspective. She received her MFA from NYU's Film Directing Program and lives in New York City with her family.
