Biography

    • LJ Benet is a Los Angeles actor and singer known for his versatility as a dramatic, comedic and musical performer in film, television and stage productions. LJ began his professional career as a child actor, guest starring on the crime drama, The Mentalist, and playing young Tommy in the equity rock musical, The Who's Tommy. His voice and comic timing landed him the part of young Josh Baskin in BIG The Musical, leading to casting in two 2010 films, Diary of A Wimpy Kid (as a voiceover singer) and You Again, in a funny bit part as Eric, the boy in the tree house.

In 2013, LJ was cast in the hit Disney TV comedy, Dog with a Blog, in a recurring role as Karl Fink, a comedic character reminiscent of a young Niles Crane in Frasier. He also was tabbed for more dramatic parts, portraying an abused boy in a 2012 episode of Bones; a troubled, mischievous adolescent, Kevin Ratner, the 2013 Blumhouse thriller, Dark Skies; and the traumatized son of a dying father in the medical drama, Code Black (2015).

His utility as a performer flourished in numerous stage musicals and dramas. LJ earned Ovation & LA Drama Critics Circle Awards for Ensemble Performance as The Boy in Waiting for Godot at the Mark Taper Forum (2012). He played Romeo in For The Record's musical, Baz: Star Crossed love, at the Palazzo Theater in Las Vegas (2017). More recently, he played country legend Johnny Cash in the ETC ensemble production of Ring of Fire (2023), and Elvis Presley in the Musical Theatre West production of Million Dollar Quartet (2024). LJ also writes and records his own music, totaling over 700,000 streams to date, headlining at venues like The Mint (LA) and the Mercury Lounge (NYC).

Passionate about his community, he serves at Mosaic church, and enjoys the privilege of performing with the Mosaic MSC worship group. LJ is pursuing acting opportunities across the board, but is especially seeking roles in family-friendly theatrical productions, in keeping with his values and beliefs.
